Band material for the Blaze

What is the band material on the Blaze made of? Is it the same as the Surge and/or Charge/Charge HR models? Asking because I am very intersted in the Blaze, but I had allergic reactions to the Surge, even after following all of the recommended guidance and care tips.

@SunsetRunner The only color offered in XL for the classic bands is black. The metal links band is only available as an accessory.

Here on line, I've seen several renditions of the Blaze blue band. One appears turquoise another a fairly deep "royal" blue. Can you give me some indication? Thanks

Hi, @Bill9909 , it's the same blue as the blue Charge HR and Surge, so if you have an opportunity to see one of those "in person" (so to speak), you will see the actual colour. I would say much more royal blue than turquoise.

I currently have a fitbit flex and it works great for me; however, I would like to add the features of HR monitoring and notifications. The Blaze looks great, but I am concerned about the Stainless Steel. I have an extreme nickel allergy that results in breakouts even from stainless or surgical steel. I have in the past been able to coat the surface of the Surgical Steel on a watch with clear nail polish to prevent contact with my skin. Would this technique impact the functionality of the Blaze?

Thanks

Unless yhe coating is over the LEDs or the HR detecter, it wont affect things. The band is only used to hold the unit against the skin, and has no other function.

@agracer If you have concerns over the stainless steel band, I recommend consulting with a medical professional before purchase. When you initially purchase Blaze, it comes with the classic band as shown here. We also recommend following our product care tips when wearing our trackers.

Would love to see Fitbit release a milanese loop band for the Blaze. Also some brighter colored bands like what Apple offers for the AW. Not a fan of the darker colors Fitbit likes to use.

@matt9013 The Camel and Mist Grey leather bands along with the Stainless Steel band are "lighter colors." No word on a milanese loop band but that would be a cool addition.

@ErickFitbit

Yeah, I can't wait to get the steel band but not a fan of the leather. I have a few leather watches which are really nice but always been a fan of the link bracelet and classic bands more. May give one of the leather ones a try though.

@matt9013 I have a black leather band and I must say, it is super comfortable to wear during the day at the office. I am definitely a fan of the steel band too but have yet to get my own. Although it does look good in person.

it's different than charge/surge, stiffer, less comfortable rubbery... but in your case maybe better because it might not cause an allergic reaction

What's the width of the wristband on the Fitbit Blaze?  I'm getting an XL but being a big guy I'm pretty sure I need to get a wristband extender and want to see if one that's already known to work on the Surge will work on the Blaze.

I realized this wasn't the best thread to put this in so I created a new one and someone responded - it's 24mm wide.  So, if a mod wants to remove my post here, feel free to.

Just a thought -- check out ebay-- some companies are making a protective shield for both the back and front of the blaze - may be a better alternative than nail polish... you may probably message them to see what these shields are made of...

I'm allergic to nickel. After one day wearing Blaze, I have urticaria on my wrist. Do you have non-nickel bands?

Best Answer

I have sensitive skin with latex and adhesive allergy.  After wearing the Blaze band - and taking it off to as directed in the wear and care - I have a rash just larger than the thickness of the already wide band over most of my wrist.  I am ordering a metal band in hopes the issue is resolved.

Thanks, I'm going to look into this.  I appear to be allergic to the FitBit Blaze elastomer band.  I'm allergic to metals, but didn't think this would be an issue since it's rubbery.

@LanaPav @Mindy1923 @kriselkins Sorry to hear about the discomfort that you experienced. I recommend reaching out to our Support Team and letting them know of your experience and including pictures if available. I am confident that they will be able to provide you with some options.

@LanaPav We have leather bands but the clasp is the same stainless steel band that is on  your classic band, so I wouldn't recommend trying that if you previously experienced discomfort.

Hi there Matthew, you mentioned in your post that the materials used in FitBit bands are of an elastomer custom materail.

I'm intersted in purchaing the FitBit Charge 2 but I'm wondering if the standard Classic band that it comes with is an ESD safe material? If not I'll have to look into getting one of your leather band with the Indigo colour but if I can get away with the standard strap that would be preferable.

I appreciate your assitance.
