Bike mode vs Strava

I've been testing which to use for logging my bicycling. When I use bike mode on the blaze I still get steps in my step count, and when I use Strava I get triple the steps in my step count. I started a ride with 3k steps for the day and got my 10k step notification I'm the shower after I already logged the ride as complete, but took maybe 50 steps from my bike to the shower. None of this makes sense to me. Also, the calorie count varies wildly from a Strava logged ride to a bike mode ride. To the tune of about 600 more calories burned after a Strava logged ride for an hour long ride at the same average heart rate and distance compared to to bike mode logged ride. Please help me understand.

Bike mode attempts to reduce the number of "false steps" that get picked up while you are biking. I haven't paid any attention to calorie burn estimates with bike mode versus regular tracking, so no opinions or ideas on that.

(I will mention that regular HR tracking is less frequent, something like once every 5 or 10 seconds, versus once every 1 second when in exercise tracking mode).
