OK so I have no qualms whatsoever about having to connect to my phone for GPS. Let's be honest most of us run with our phones for music so we might aswell piggyback the GPS. Here is what I am not getting that I want. I want verbal updates like I got on endomondo. At 1 mile it would say over my headphones 1 mile, lap time 9.05 pace 9.05 run. I loved this feature it would let me know where I was at it would lower volume on music, guve the verbal update and when it was done music would turn back up. Also it needs the ability to set intervsls for a run walk schedule. There are a lot of running features missing here, we need to get uptodate.
I have to ask, who is "most of us"? I sure as heck don't run with a phone (or any other device beyond my Fitbit), and I don't know anybody else who does as well (and I'm a member of two running clubs). True, *SOME* folks run with their phones (I see them out on the trails and roads I frequent), but I would say they are in the minority

Rich are you saying people atrack you on the run trail for not bringing a phone? Also your wrong about the blaze. The blaze requires a phone for gps. Therefore most people who have a blaze and enjoy rinning with GPS will strap on an arm band and use headphones to listen to therensure music. That means it would entirely be possible to program these running features in with the app.
What Rich is saying is the Fitbit Surge has in-built GPS; no need to carry a phone.

@HarveyBBQ Not sure why this didn't follow the usual scripted answer, which is to go search Feature Request forum and vote on it. I say FWIW because the oldest I found is from Nov 2014 and still not implemented, you can view and vote here: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Requests/Add-interval-training-timer/idi-p/572899
BTW I completely agree with you, and in fact its the reason I continue to use Runkeeper while walking even if wearing my Fitbit.
As an aside, going back to why this thread didn't follow the "excellent suggestion, go vote for it" script... I ride my bike a solid 10+ hours every week, often on a 35 mile paved river trail, and see a lot of young and older runners. Most have phones, say 2 out of 3, or 3 out of 4. The older runners want security and connection, the high school running teams, well, their generation does nothing without a phone. Unscientific poll, same as the first reply that you received.
