Blaze Text Notifications

My Fitbit Blaze (so stoked to finally have it!!!) notifications are on and the text message option is set to "message+" which is the app I use... the TXT notification comes through to the device but only by identifying the name of the sender and "1 new message"... I've pressed every and all the buttons and I'm unable to open the message fully and read the actual text, I've even tried test runs sending texts to myself and still no luck... HELP!

Hmm..I have a Galaxy S5. When I go to Settings, the Do Not Disturb option
is within the Sounds and Notifications option. Perhaps you should check
there.

I finally got my text notifications to work...and by work I mean I can actually see the text and not just a notification that I received a text.  I had to switch to Google Messenger, which like Samsung Messages is far inferior to Verizon's Messaging + texting app.

So I guess until Fitbit fixes this app issue with Verizon Messaging + I will use Google Messenger which isn't as good but better than Samsung's Messages app.  I don't like to have to be regulated to using inferior applications because of software conflicts, but I will for a few weeks and hopefully Fitbit can get it's act together and get this issue resolved.

I just called Verizon since they sell the Blaze and are my carrier.  They said it will take a patch from Motorola as the issue does see to be the Message + app.  In the mean time, you can use the standard messaging program and it should work.

They are also opening a forum discussion on their page for Blaze specific issues like this - their moderators will see that people are having issues and will work to fix the issue hopefully!

Thanks.  I may just need to stop into Verizon and have them help me.  I have tried changing back to Message instead of Message+ and then don't even get a notification at all on the Blaze.  At least when I have it set to Message+ I get the notification but just don't see the actual message.  Thanks for posting.

i'm on sprint with a samsung s6, having the same issue where it just shows that there is a x texts from person(s)-name but it doesn't show the actual texts. there is no option to switch to samsung messenger, i'm assuming because i'm already using it or sprint doesn't give you that option. anyway, i installed google messanger and made that my default messaging app since someone said that fixes the issue. hopefully that works, but i don't really like the look of google instant messenger compared to my default instant message app. hopefully i get used to it, i guess.

ATT Note 5 Andoird 5.1.1 here. The default Samsung/ATT Messages app would only show a notification on the Blaze. When I switched to using the Google Messenger SMS app....it now works as advertised. Notifications plus the Message Text.

I tried everything from switching from Verizons Messenger+ to Messenger to Google Messenger. Messenger and Google Messenger didn’t send me any text messages where Messenger+ actually sent the text notification but without the actual message showing (just showed 1 message). So after all of this, I decided to go into Verizon to see if they could help me at all. The first thing they told me is every single time you change the notification type on the phone, the Fitbit app as well as the Fitbit Blaze (to do this you push in the button on the left side of the Fitbit at the same time as the bottom right on the Fitbit to re-sync it). Coincidentally, the guy that helped me at Verizon had just talked to a Fitbit customer service associate that had no idea how to help him. I left the store, change my notification type back to Messages on my phone, fitbit Blaze and then re-synced everything and I started getting the messages. I have noticed that if I get multiple messages it will then revert back to saying the number of messages as opposed to showing both messages. Not sure if this will be helpful for anyone else, but it wa for me.

How did you get your text messages to show up from your note 5 to your blaze ?

Sorry - I don’t have a note - I have a Samsung 5S.

With Android, when there is only 1 unread message, the whole message will pop up. With multiple unread messages it will display the message count amd the name of the senders.  This is as it does on the lock screen. It is the way Android works and Fotbit had no control over it.

It doesn't pop up regardless of the number - one or more. Per Verizon,
they will push it up to developers to fix the issue.

Nice find Oz. useing Hangouts as the default message app allows you to see all new messages. looks like the problem with Messages is that the blaze doesn't acknowledge the notification when it views it, preventing the next message from that sender from being viewed. might be something that is being blocked by the Messages app and nothing fitbit can fix unless they reach out to samsung

Same here-  I have a Samsung Edge S+.  I get a notification that I have a text, but can't read it.  I am super disappointed.

I actually was going to go to an Apple Phone and Iwatch, but loved FitBit, and wanted and waited for the Blaze, so I went with Samsung.  It is so disappointing it doesn't work like it should.

I read, some switched to basic messaging.  I have no desire to use that app.  Plus, it sounds like it messed people up even more.  So, I guess I have to wait for a fix.  I sure hope it is SOON!!!!!

unpair the blaze and re pair it... then restart your phone it should all work after.

We've tried. If I want to use the Messenger+ app (which I prefer to
others), I will have to wait until Motorola and Fitbit figure out a patch.
The app and the watch simply don't communicate. 😞

I mentioned the issue someone else posted about a problem with Motorola and the Messenger+ app to the guy I talked to at Verizon and he said Motorola has nothing to do with the app.  I'm not sure but I venture to say at this point no one really knows much of anything.
I got mine to work using Messenger but I agree that I would prefer to use Messenger+.  Until someone gets this to work I will just use the other.

I have the same issue through AT&T. Just spent 20 minutes on a chat with FitBit trying to resolve.  It ended with, "I've escalated this to our team and someone will get back to you shortly".  So they still do not have it resolved.
