Blaze Text Notifications

My Fitbit Blaze (so stoked to finally have it!!!) notifications are on and the text message option is set to "message+" which is the app I use... the TXT notification comes through to the device but only by identifying the name of the sender and "1 new message"... I've pressed every and all the buttons and I'm unable to open the message fully and read the actual text, I've even tried test runs sending texts to myself and still no luck... HELP!

I kept thinking it was something in the phone setting since I was getting an alert on the blaze. How do I change to the built in messages on my phone?

I have the same problem with my galaxy note III I get a green bubble that says messages then a white bubble under it that says text message but no name or what the message says. I have my blaze synced with my galaxy note III and my Apple iPad do you think that might be a problem? IDK but it's driving me nuts

I can't tell if you've already solved this issue, but I just saw on another thread someone with the same issue (not being able to see the content of a new text). They had Android and a Samsung Galaxy I believe. Their issue seemed to be fixed by going into their phone's settings and turning on "preview" for their text messages. Personally, I'm an iPhone user so I can't tell you exactly how to do it, but I'm hoping this helps a little bit? Good luck!

On the Android Samsung Galaxy S5 phone, hit the gear icon to get into setup.  Select Applications, then select Messages, then select Default messaging app. On the More networks screen, select Default messaging app and switch it to Messages instead of Message+.  Your phone will now use Messages.

You also have to change the setting in the fitbit phone app to use Messages.  Open fitbit app on the cell phone, select the Blaze device. Under Devices, select Blaze, then select Call and Text Notifications. It may prompt to enable notification services, which you want to enable, Then under Text Notifications, select Messages.  You should be able to see the entire text message contents.

I tried this actually, but it didn't work for me. My fitbit still buzzes alerting me I have a new msg and on the screen the msg pops up with the sender's name, but I still can't read the content of the msg.

Using the message app on my Samsung Galaxy 5 has corrected the problem, however, Message+ is far superior.  I hate having to chose between the functionality of the Blaze vs. my phone.  I hope they can get this fixed soon.

Ok! I got the texts to show from my Samsung galaxy s5 to my blaze. Use messages, not messages+ app. Make sure preview for msg is on in ur phones settings

I have an S5 as well, but the above recommendations did not work for me. I see the notification with the contact's name and number of messages, but I cannot see the content of the message

After playing around some more with the Galaxy S5 + Blaze, I found that you can only see the content of the message if you only have one message notification. If you have more than one message notification, you won't see the content of the messages, in exchange for seeing the NUMBER of "new" messages. The problem is that there isn't a way to expand the messages to see each one of them individually. Also, clearing the message notifications doesn't work properly, as once you receive another message, the old number of messages is brought back and added to the new message

Also, it's very disappointing that you have to choose between receiving notifications and enabling music control, as music control ONLY works with Bluetooth classic, and notifications doesn't work with it at all

@kendaop  that's not the case,  since notafacation happens through BT Low Energy and music control uses BT Classic. Notafacation is set up by the app, and music control uses the same channel that a Bluetooth speaker control buttons would use.

I had this problem with the surge. I read that you had to turn on preview message in your phone settings. This worked but then my messages would combine and be all messed up. I called fitbit and they didn't have any fix. The only way I got it to work like it always did was installing the old fitbit version of the fitbit app. If I install the new version of the app it goes back to not working, I bet it is the same with the blaze.

My Blaze was working fine until today.  I am no longer receiving my text messages or incoming call options.  Ever since i charged it last night these features stopped working.  Anyone know how to reset?

Best Answer
Mine did that to. I restarted my phone and it worked again. No rhyme or reason??

If not already done, feel free restarting the Blaze.

Same issue.  The message shows the name and that I have a message but if you double tap or whateve to open it just expands with the number of minutes and that it is pulled from message+ - galaxy s6.  Boy when you buy something you want all the features to work geesh.  I can't win....call myself upgrading and this one is letting me down too.
