I don't necessarily need the Blaze to be waterproof. I would like it if I could wear it when swimming (key word is swimming *not* diving) or even for a quick shower. Living in Seattle, if I'm biking there's a good chance its also raining. Sometimes no matter how fast you pedal you just can't outrun that cloud!
Every one of my Fitbit has had the standard blurb about the occasional splash but not recommended to be showered. If the seal is an issue can it be manufactured with an 'O' ring installed? I do understand that's an over simplified "solution" If the charging port prevents it to be water resistant, use some form of magnetic or "osmosis" charging so there's no exposed port. Again - over simplified. Will that cause the watch to be higher in cost? Personally, I'm okay with that. I paid over $200 for my Surge HR which I love but I can't modify any part of it. Having the option to swap out the band especially if its starting to look a bit haggard is worth it to me.
I think of all the improvements the clamoring hasn't changed much in the need for it to withstand water.

@bbarrera i mention the glud becauze i hsve seen msny reports of the Charge, Cgarge HR, and Surge bands having bubbles were thr vand gas seperated from the tracker.
Why is it seperating?
Ad for water resist as nce oc the Blsze, it is rated as 1ATM, the international stsndard for this rating is splash proof, and sble to withstand sn accidental spill in the water. Swimming may put to much force on it.
Best AnswerAfter my charge HR took a dive in to the bathroom sink for less than 30 seconds and died i am not risking water going anywere near my blaze.

Best AnswerMy old flex lasted through two years worth of showers, the occasional swim and two Tough Mudders without a problem.
Best AnswerMy Casio Pathfinder watch, older tech than the Blaze, has an altimeter and barometer, yet is water resistant to 10 BAR (330 feet). I scuba dive with it. I don't think citing 'an altimeter' as a cause is really the cause. Perhaps the version chosen....
My husband has the Garmin which is waterproof to 300ft and has an altimeter. So I'm really not sure how that is true.
For what it's worth, I wear my Blaze when washing dishes, giving the kids baths, and I've worn it in the shower a couple times. I haven't experienced any issues with it getting wet yet.

Best AnswerI totally agree Fitbit is out to lunch on the water resistance for swimming there is no reason other than trying to skirt the issue by making them so cheap and stating water resistant to rain and splash...wow
