Blaze accuracy while cycling .

I recently bought a bit it blaze not even a month since I bought it. At first I was very impressed by the battery.
Later whine I started using it for workouts it is **ahem** inaccurate ! Yesterday I cycled almost 10kms and after pressing the flag and finishing the bike exercise, the stats of that exercise simply won't show up on the dashboard! So I was climbing by way up to home and checking what's the problem so it abruptly got a blank display I went up restarted it and it still won't show up.
Today again I started cycling and cycled almost 15kms and the Same problem again. After seeing the statistics and results of the exercise and pressing the done button, it simply won't add up to the dashboard and it seems like I haven't worked out at all ! Which sucks and is annoying !
Anyone facing this issue ?
I feel even a cheap local smart band would track distance and show up on the stats screen !
Waste of money !
Besides why the hell does it need GPS to track cycling distance ? I Mean Alta does it without GPS. And many other bands do !
This is full of bugs !
Either bring out a software update developers or scrap and callback this model and refund your customers who got fooled by blaze.

Actually tje Alta is unable to measure any distance,  it can only calculates it. It counts your steps, then multiplies then by your stride, neither of these are availible on a bike.

Tryon to measure distance on a Fitbit, would be like trying to measure how far the car went without a pedometer.

Hello @Jay_B welcome to the Fitbit Community! 🙂 If your bike activity was recorded by SmartTrack it will not provide the distance of your ride. If you use Exercise mode once you sync the information will display on your activity log. Just make sure the activity is not duplicated because it can mess up stats. Also the only tracker with integrated GPS is the Fitbit Surge, to track distance with the Alta you need to use MobileRun @Rich_Laue thanks for your cooperation.

I'll be around if you have any questions! 🙂

I did track it using the exercise option and this has happened to me thrice as soon as I see the results of my exercise after pressing the flag, that's the completion button; and then I press
Done button on my watch nothing gets logged into the activity stats ! Which is annoying ! I'm sure I'm not doing anything wrong I've looked into it many people have this issue ! It's time Fitbit calls back this mode or come up with a stable software update.

Hello @Jay_B thanks for your reply. That's odd, to better investigate this issue can you please provide me a screenshot of your activity log.

I have a similar problem with my Blaze.  I have an LG V20 phone running Endomondo.  I have it synced with my blaze.  When I run my Blaze in exercise mode and cycling it never reports the correct mileage.  The map image is the same as my Endomono but the numbers are not even close.  I rode 17 miles, which Endomondo recorded correctly, but Fitbit only showed 3.2.  The are both using the same GPS on the phone.  Fitbit even shows the correct route.  Just the time and mileage are not correct.. What gives?  If needed, I have screen shots of both programs.

Bike riding doesn't get stored in

the activity log. Activity log is just a graph showing the times of day you were active. Bike ride stats and gps map is stored in the track exercise log. At least thats how my android app works.

It's great to have you here @Craiga0406 and @MarkMM! Thanks for those details. Currently, we're having issue with exercises that are being tracked with MobileRun as they are disappearing, you can check the main thread for more details.

If you're not using MobileRun, but the exercises are disappearing then provide me with more details about the issue you're experiencing.

Keep me posted.

Hi @SilviaFitbit

For the same cycling ride I used Strava and Fitbit on the same time. Strava measured the distance as being of 4.2 km

Distance Strava

My Fitbit Blaze says that the distance is 3.15 km

 How is this possible?

A warm welcome to the Community @AndiOver! Thanks for the screenshot and details you've mentioned. Each app will calculate stats using different algorithms. I would like you to make sure you're properly using your app to capture the GPS data. Also, you can learn more about how accurate is GPS?

Hope this helps!

Hi @SilviaFitbit both Fitbit Blaze and Strava were using the same GPS data since I was using the same mobile phone for both.

I wanted to mention the fact that my phone was pretty close to my Blaze and that it never lost connection to my phone. This is happening every time I use Bike Exercise.

For Running seems to be almost accurate, more or less 10 meters for a distance of 1.3 km.
