Blaze battery draining

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hey guys!

My blaze started to drain battery real quick since Sunday. Before that it held charge for 3-5 days, now it drains within 20 hours, and I've charged it 4 times since Sunday :(((

Any idea? was there a software update or anything?

Cheers

**update**

Since its happening to too many of us, please add the following:

- When did this start occuring to you? (I had a look at heart rate, to see when it was on charger)

- What phone OS Version do you use? (Like Android 7.1.1.)

- When did you buy it?

- Blaze firmware version (Like 17.8.402.1)

Yes I was sorely disappointed after talking to customer service. Mine also
cost me about $200.
I hope a lot of other people that are considering a Fitbit will see these
posts and decide on another brand

Mine holds a charge for about 20 hours if I'm lucky, and my unit is under a year old (replacement because first one died in 2 months), in addition to the heart rate monitor not working.

If Fitbitis going to push products out at $200-300 and complete against Apple/Samsung they better focus on better quality, because dropping money on products that last under a year isn't realistic

mine is 5 hours.. before sunday it was 3-5 days

I received my FitBit Blaze for Christmas (January 2018). I typically got 2-3 days of charge depending on how active I was. I never realized I was supposed to get 4-5 days. Anyway, last Thursday (April 12, 2018), the heart rate monitor stopped working on my FitBit. I changed the setting from Auto to Yes, but then it just displayed 70 BPM regardless of what I was doing. By Friday, the battery was draining inclredibly fast. In fact, it was dead before I got home from work. Now I'm charging my device at least once a day. It seems to track steps fine, but it no longer tracks my heart rate, active minutes, or the hours of activity. I don't even receive notifications telling me I need to take 100 more steps this hour or whatever.

For reference:

- This began happening April 12, 2018 (FitBit in use for about 4 months)

- I sync to an iPhone 6s with iOS 11.3

- Purchased in November or December 2017. Received in January 2018.

- Blaze firmware number: 17.8.402.1

I gave up on my blaze; in addition to the poor battery life, the hr monitor doesn't work. I'm deemed outside of the warranty, but in reality this unit only lasted me under a year (original was 3 months).

I was offered a 25% discount on a replacement, which brings the cost of a new unit to being more expensive then if I were to purchase from a store, while being limited to options that are considerable downgrades or take my chances on the problematic blaze

Go on your app, or on the website and find customer support. Go through either the chat or 800# they will remedy the situation and will more than likely offer a replacement

Ebay guy is offering replacement batteries. but I bet if you replace your battery , you will null and void your warrenty

I didn't wear my Blaze for months, so I'm not entirely sure when it started. But when I finally found it and put it back on I was so disheartened that it was always dead on my wrist.

When this started occurring: unsure, noticed in ~February
Phone OS: Android 8.1.0
When purchased: July 2017
Blaze firmware version: 17.8.402.1

I went through my settings and started tinkering with them like crazy. I turned off "Always Connected" and the "Keep-Alive Widget" and it seemed to help substantially, despite needing to manually sync

I have had my blaze for about 18 months. I have charged it more than once,
I know how to charge it.
I don't use most of the add-ons, mainly the ones that I can't change.
I've checked to see that the battery is fully charged after charging it,
I've reset it and checked to see if it is fully charged it isn't. One day
I repeated this process 7 times before it showed fully charged.
I've made sure the contacts are clean.
Support also suggested that I do a firmware update. Which I did.
I called support and they said it clearly was a battery issue. but I was
out of warrantee so all they could do is give me 25% off a new watch.
I'm not going to pay about $200. dollars every 18 months for a new one

I would suggest you contact fitbit right away. Your watch is still under
warrantee they should replace it. Keep in mind that if that one goes out
they won't want to give you another one.
wishing you luck

I am having the same battery draining issue and heart rate issues as many other people here.  Just started recently after update.  Newest issue is that my Blaze won't even turn on.

Well the site cut off the Blaze is not charging story. by the way, they have all of your live data on their screens, but will happily drag your sorry A  throught the most circular, tedious and HIGHLY IRRITATING , DIAGNOSTIC AND DATA COLLECTION INTERVIEW. lOOK iF YOUR Blaze was lit up, sending and recieving kind of accurate data, always paring with bluetooth, most likely it could be working, but not charging. The dumbest thing in the kit is the charging cradle, with 4 compression pins, but it is not pet, kid or walking in the dark proof. So, I went back to the most mashed up one, lid broken off, and put the Blaze back in settled it , wiggled it and wham! the big charging battery appeared. I taped it in and this morning my Blaze was paring with everything including several pets in the neighbourhood. LOL. The other one, had a flatten lump in its cord and I bet that one of the wires is broken, will get back on that. So take your watch to Target or Walmart, where ever you can try a new charger out and put your Blaze in it. If you get a Big Battery or even the tiny battery, showing charging, you have a working Blaze and a broken Charger. Working means it will charge, I cannot promise that it will do what it is supposed to do. A lot of you have complained of faulty readings or not counting stairs, and mine does that and takes forever finding Bluetooth on anything but a full charge. So you may see those glitches go away on a full charge.  I hope that helps, Fitbit on the otherhand, has insulted me for the last time and if you all look, the Apple watch is a Panzer Tank for a few extra dollars. They are refined, smart, know what they are doing, fix their own product, do not use every opportunity to sell you anotherBlaze or higher wearable, check out an Apple watch. They work, but I do not know if they will pare with Android, Google, or Microsoft devices. I think they have apps for that; but on the Smart-Nice-Convient scale, they are 100 and Fitbit is 12-35. Apple solves your problem, Fitbit has never done that.

Wall Street people love their Apple watches.

Good luck

Hello all, thanks for the updates.

Regarding the 25% discount some of you received, keep in mind that you can purchase another Fitbit product with the discount (except the new units). You can take a look at our comparison page, where you will be able to compare the Fitbit trackers.

For the ones that are experiencing issues and haven't tried any troubleshoot, take a look at this post and follow the instructions provided there, or let me know if you have already contacted our support team.

Keep me posted about this. Smiley Wink

Even after 25% off, it brings it down to retail price.

I could have easily walked into any retailer and paid the same price after "said discount". Fitbit is pretty much offering nothing as compensation.

Indeed !!!!!,
I'M having the same issues as well and feel the "25%" discount is an insult
to our intelligence. You would that fitbit (being one of the most touted
companies out there, they would have better customer service and back up
their products. Im going back to the Garmin Vivofit.
Good luck to you.

My charge has started doing this today.. I charged on Sunday evening GMT, and took it off charge yesterday morning and this morning i noticed the battery flashing indicator.. It is less than two years old  - I have noticed a slowing decline in the battery life

- I'm using the latest firmware

- I have All day sync turned off.

- Classic Bluetooth is off

- Using a google Pixel to sync to.

After reading all these posts and other posts based on the same subject it seems to me there is an inherent problem with battery life.
