Blaze intermittently missing start of sleep

Hi,

I am a newbie to these forums so please be gentle with me! I have had a Blaze for around 18 months now and overall really pleased with it. The issue I have is with the sleep monitoring missing the start of my sleep. As an example when I looked at what was logged last night sleep started at 00:32 but I was convinced I went to bed and to sleep earlier. So I manually amended the time I went to sleep to 22:30. When I look at the graph I can clearly see me going into light sleep 23:05 to 00:32. So the tracker is picking up the sleep but the processing of this data only shows my sleep starting an hour and a half later! I am not absolutely sure but I think this may have started when sleep stages came in but that may be a red herring. It is intermittent though and some nights it picks up OK. I sort of know its happening when I look at the graph and it starts with me in light sleep with no awake time as a sort of "lead in".

I wear it day and night and have a couple of different wrist bands, I use the standard wrist band on a night.

Any help much appreciated or is this an actual bug?

Thanks,

I've noticed within the last 2 weeks my blaze has started doing the same.

Hi there @Rinnie84 @hullrichuk, Great to have you both in the Community Forums! 🙂

I'm very sorry to hear you're having problems with your trackers missing the start of your sleep 😕

This is not a but I've heard of a lot, so I could probably suggest restarting your trackers and see if this makes any difference. You can easily do this by pressing the left and lower right buttons for 10-12 seconds. This will make your tracker to reboot and you can try it out and see if there's any improvement.

Also, keep in mind that Sleep Tracking works based on your movement. If you're moving a lot after going to sleep, even if you're asleep and you're only restless, this could cause your tracker not to count that as time asleep and it will start tracking it until you remain still.

Let me know if restarting helps and any other thin, I'm here 🙂

I have restarted and will monitor over the next few nights. One thing I did think of is I often take off my watch in an evening and then put in on just before I go to sleep, could this have an effect?

@hullrichuk, thanks for getting back and I don't really think that would make a difference. Your tracker should start logging your sleep no matter how long you've been wearing the tracker for.

I'd say, give it a couple of days more and let me know if this keeps happening after that.

So I rebooted today.   Charged it fully and tightened the band.   Slept from 826pm till about 1053pm - not registering any sleep

If memory serves, isn't there a sleep sensitivity adjustment available? (I don't have my phone handy so I can't search through the app...)

Hi, so an update from me, after a reboot of my Fitbit and fully charging I have had two nights of no issues the graph shows a small line of lead in of awake time maybe a min or so then usually light sleep for the duration.

But then last night I have synched and only had 5hrs or so of sleep starting at 00:30 ish, When you look at the graph it starts in Light sleep with no lead in. When I manually change the start date and time to yesterday at 22:30 I can see I actually went to sleep at 23:17 so it chopped an hour or quarter off my total sleep. I can check and manually update each night but its a pain guessing when I went to sleep!

So the tracker seems to be grabbing the data its then the post processing and recognition of the start time that seems to be an issue. Happy to help diagnosing if you need anything else.
