I already searched this forum and found no answer to it except explaining how it works..

here is what i did and found this as a problem.. I live in a high rise building (7th floor) and took stairs to go down and up multiple times with in last 3 days and my floor count is not working... in one case it counted "1 floor" only ... today it counted "7" only... there are around 126 acutal stairs which is not accounted for.  What I am doing wrong? or my device is broken? or its a software issue?

P.S: I just got a new Fitbit blaze last thursday and since the mail delivery i am using it after updating my device.

@ssultanali Welcome....  You could be experiencing a neutral pressure in the building because if the Fitbit doesn't detect and change in air pressure every 10' it will not register a stair/floor.

The reverse can happen if you are out in a windy environment you could get changes in air pressure around your Fitbit and it will register phantom floors..

Now that you detected 7 floors upwards that would appear to be correct for a 7 storey building..

The benefit you get from the stairs is the effort.. Fitbit does nothing with the stairs, it is an incentive measure to get us moving in a different environment.

Enjoy your Blaze because mine has been excellent over the last 4 weeks..

Did you do a restart of the Blaze yet?

Blaze only counts stairs going up, and approaching storms while walking, OK any decrease in air pressure can do it.

The stairs are not open its kind of indoors so its not windy... here is the picture of stair in question.

I did restart still no avail

What do you mean by 126 stairs unaccounted for? The tracker doesn't count actual stairs, only floors. Are you saying you went up all 7 floors 18 times?

first time it counted as 11  (went up and down 7 floors)

second time counted as 2 (went up and down 7 floors plus some addition flights of floor at other place)

third time counted as 9 (went up and down 7 floors)

forth time counted as 7 (went up and down 7 floors)

Every Fitbit I've owned has been flakey when doing hotel stairs. Same at house.

I just received my Fitbit Blaze a few days ago. It seemed to be working great but then today, it quit counting my floors. I know it detects altitude changes when I'm walking and I walked the same path today as I did yesterday and the day before. I was showing 15 to 20 floors which was about right for the rise in elevation, but today when I walked the same path, it showed 0 floors.

I have restarted my Blaze 3 or 4 times and that did not help.

My blaze is inconsistent in counting my floors - today it will not register my stairs/floor in my home - consistently not counting - owever works fine outside on hills.  I am in a contest at work so this really sucks - for the price of the device it should work more consistently--- it has also been inconsistent in counting steps---

Mine will occasionally give me more floors than I actually went up.

Is there a way to manually input the floors?

y Blaze 2 weeks ago and all is doing fine until yesterday when it counted I climbed 46 floors! It was a typical day for me yesterday. Went off to work, climbed a normal amount of stairs, and I don't know why all of a sudden I got 46 floors! My normal would be 10-17. Yesterday was also a fine day, not windy or anything. Tried restarting my tracker for now. Will monitor what will happen tomorrow.

BTW, there was also an instance where it didnt track my sleep for a day.

I got my Blaze 2 weeks ago and all is doing fine, until one time it didn't track my sleep for a day. I did some restarting and trouble shooting and it went back to ok. Then, yesterday, it counted I climbed 46 floors! It was a typical day for me yesterday. Went off to work, climbed a normal amount of stairs, and I don't know why all of a sudden I got 46 floors! My normal would be 10-17 floors only. Yesterday was also a fine day, not windy or anything.

I alreadt tried restarting my Blaze and my phone (iphone 6) and restarting the fit bit app but the floor counts no longer changed.

Will monitor tomorrow if there would be any improvement.

The ability to edit the amount of floors would helpful for tracking purposes.

I've been having the same issue with my new blaze. I have found the following possible solution/trick.
Like it has been stated the elevation difference has to be above 10'.
Also it would appear that the watch has to be counting steps in order for it to count. Simply walking up and down the stairs doesn't seem to register. If I walk from say my kitchen then upstairs it registers 1 floor. I don't think the watch will add floors if the step counter isn't increasing nor if your arm isn't moving (like holding a rail etc) if the watch worked simply on pressure it would register lifts and escalators too.
So try to start walking before going upstairs. I know it sounds daft but as a fitness tracker it must have multiple variables in order to track.
My wife has a fitbit one and that registers floors when walking uphill obviously due to the change in pressure, but she has to be walking in order for it to do it.

Hope this helps, if it doesn't register any floors from all methods then maybe it's a faulty unit. There is also a small hole on the underside which is the pressure monitor, this can sometimes get dust or sweaty skin etc stuck in it so keep it clean.

Hello all, I hope you are doing fine! Woman Wink If you are having problems with your floors accuracy, I recommend restarting your Blaze. After the restart process, do the following:

1. Find a location where you have 2 flights of stairs in a row. Each flight of stairs should be at least 10 feet tall.
2. Place your tracker on your belt/waistband and check the number of floors before you begin to walk.
3. Walk up the 2 flights in a row, trying not to stop at any point.
4. Once you reach the top of both flights of stairs, stop to look at the number counted.

If you see that the amount of floors stills inaccurate, feel free to contact our support team, for a faster response you can contact them via phone or chat.

Let me know the outcome. Woman Happy

It appears the Blaze is not calculating the floors correctly when there is low pressure weather system in the area (rain).

Now the the low pressure system passed the area, the Blaze is counting the floor properly again.

Yes, it is weather related. Fitbit needs to look into this. May be add a barometric sensor to help with the calculation.

We had near tornado weather today. I apparently walked 36 floors today.... when really maybe 2. So cool it goes by barometric pressure!
