Blaze over counting steps

I have recently purchased a Fitbit Blaze which is my first Fitbit, my step counter is way over counting, this morning for instance, I’ve got up walked and made a cup of tea and sat on my sofa and it shows I’ve done 225 steps, yesterday it showed I did 23,000 steps but my iPhone said I only did 16,500. I'm not too bothered about the steps I do but I believe that affects the calorie count which I am bothered about, yesterday it said I burnt just under 5,000 calories which can’t be correct because I’m only consuming between 2,000 to 2,500 per day.

I've seen there are some issues with step counting, is there a way to change the way it counts calories without using steps?

A warm welcome to the Community @Odsmark.

If your tracker isn't being accurate, I recommend restarting your Blaze, walk 100 steps and let me know how many it registered. Also, to obtain more accurate information, you can adjust your stride length.

Hi I just walked for 100 steps and it registered 95 which is quite good but at work I think it might be over counting as I’m an electrician my arms are always moving around even if I’m not.

Thanks for the update @Odsmark. Actually 95 steps is a really good number, keep in mind that the Blaze will register your information based on the arm movement and you mentioned that you move your arms a lot. To avoid extra amount of steps, you can wear your Blaze inside a pocket while working.

Try this and let me know if it works. Robot Happy
