My husband and I both have the same Fitbit, a Blaze. When we go hiking, we get very different reads on the number of floors. Today on our hike my Fitbit read 112 floors, and my husband's read 80 floors. We both put our Fitbit on at the same time and walked exactly the same route. Why is this happening.

Hi there @SunsetRunner, welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums! 🙂
I'm sorry to hear that your tracker and your husband's seem to be a little off. I'd like to help you out with this.
Your Fitbit Blaze detects floors using an altimeter, which is a sensor that calculates altitude based on atmospheric pressure. Though your device is designed to look for pressure changes based on elevation gains, pressure changes due to other causes—such as a gust of wind, a weather change, or opening a door—can occasionally cause your device to register an extra floor or two. Another factor is floor height. Your device registers one floor when you’ve gone up about ten feet, which is the average between residential and commercial floor heights. If you climb long staircases you may find that the device's floor count doesn’t match how many floors you’ve gone up since the staircase was taller than ten feet.
Also, as an additional suggestion, you could both restart your trackers just in case. You can easily do this by pressing the left and lower right buttons for 10-12 seconds. This will make your tracker to reboot
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more help!

There is more to the algorithm than just the altimeter. When I go up two floors in my house carrying nothing my fitbit usually records no floors. If I climb the same two floors carrying a weight in my watch hand, it accurately records two floors. I can take an elevator up ten floors and it does not record any flights climbed, nor should it. It measures ascents when I climb hills but I have no idea how accurately. Something is determining that for some ascents I am climbing, and for others I an not, and that detrmination is not always accurate.
