Blaze steps under counts by big margin

It's my first fitbit and it undercounts my steps. It normally happens when I go on a brisk walk on a track. Slow walking seems to be fine but while brisk walking when I actually did close to 4000 steps it shows just around 2800. My friend walks with me with charge HR and his shows just fine. Also when I use GPS to map, the distance increases but still is way below the actual distance known from a different walking app like mapmywalk. Stride length has been set manually because auto one is very less for me. What is wrong?

I have the exact same problem! This is my third Fitbit, prior I had the flex and then the surge and they always seemed to be pretty accurate. Ever since I got the blaze in April it has been showing my step count way down when doing the same km walks. Recently I've been doing a walk that is 6.8km and it only shows around 5k steps. Just doesn't make sense.

No response from fitbit yet. They have told me to restart and walk 100 steps and see and it all is a waste of effort because I for now seriously think that there is something major wrong in the product Model itself. It's been 3 days since they responded to my email.

Yes I too am starting to worry about the step count of the Blaze! I went for a 1 1/2 hr walk this afternoon and my Charge hr shows I've done 11,800 steps (5.59miles) however my Blaze thinks I have done 4.19 miles and a mere 8,351 steps by comparison for the same 1 1/2hr walk. I used to regularly hit my 10,000 step daily target but these days I very rarely do! I really would like to resolve this issue and hope that fitbit can help.

I've done several 100 step count tests and considtantly  find it 20-30 steps low,  but if i continue it still is only 20-30 steps low. So after counting off 1000 steps my count reads 970 or greater.i count off 500 steps and it is 470 or greater.

Maybe you are not doing brisk walk. As I said the problem appears mainly while walking brisk like at a pace below 7 min/km

This morning I intentionally did a semi brisk walk with another GPS app tracking my walk along with the fitbit app one. Steps as reported on fitbit were less than 3400 than the actual 4400 I must have walked but what surprises me even more now is the distance tracked by GPS of either apps. Mapmywalk shows me 3.50km and fitbit shows me only 3.01km. Forget steps for a moment how come distances are unequal?

Mine is consistently low as well. I usually get 20 000 or more during the week and now not even getting 15 0000 but walking the same amounts.

No solution reported though I am trying to get this one replaced and hope the next one works just fine.
