Blaze syncing issues

I don’t want to argue the merits of the Fitbit. I bought it and used it for 13 months and was happy that it provided the functionality I needed. I like the Apple Watch and know it is lightyears ahead of the Fitbit, but the Fitbit won with its 4-5 day battery.

The issue I have is with the quality of the product, the company and its customer service policies. I bought the Fitbit Blaze in mid-Oct 2016 and wore it without incident till mid-Nov 2016. I picked my watch out of the charger to load into the strap frame and noticed that glass had cracked – almost like a mosaic! The tracker was functioning without incident. I called customer service and after a few emails and photos back and forth they sent me a replacement without explanation to what/why/how it happened? Everything was fine and I went without incident till late-Oct 2017/ early-Nov 2017 when I decided to clear the persistent update notification on my Fitbit app by updating the tracker. After the update the tracker would just not sync. It would just die when I opened the app and only come alive a few hours later. On a sync reattempt, this behavior would repeat. I could never even get the time to show correctly. I contacted Fitbit and they went through all the troubleshooting steps and nothing seemed to work. They finally asked me to send them a video of the issue which I did. The initial agent did notify me that I was technically just outside my warranty date, but that she would escalate and recommend they send out a replacement.

About two days after I sent them the video, I got an email stating that I was outside warranty and that the best they could do is offer me a 25% coupon for a new Fitbit tracker - no explanation of what the issue was, why it started happening after the software update, whether they can help roll the software back, etc., etc. - NO SOLUTIONS TO HELP ME!!

But wait...to add insult to injury they did not include the Fitbit Ionic in the 25% off. Further insult was the fact that the Fitbit site is charging $199.95 for the Blaze whereas all retailers are charging $149.95 for it. So the coupon is worthless. Ridiculous!!

I reached out to the local retailer where I had bought the tracker and explained my situation. The manager was gracious enough to not only take it back but also agreed to give me a merchandise credit instead of an even-exchange.

Hello Apple Watch!
