anyone know if the Fitbit blaze needs shut down in order to fully charge? I put mine in the charger all night and the battery is still the same. It never charged. I did leave it on, so I'm wondering if that's why?

I usually use a  .5 amp, but in electrical theory it doesn't matter.

What does matter iss that the battery doesn't over heat.

.5 amp is the standard usb port on the pc.

The Blaze has a very good charging circuit, but i dont know what type of heat sync it has. My thought is better safe than sorry.

I use a 2 amp wall USB charger. I charge my Blaze when the low battery icon appears on the clock display. Charging typically takes 1 1/2 hours and I usually get 8 days out of a charge. I do monitor the charging and when fully charged, remove it from the charger.

These devices have LiPo batteries and should not be deep discharged, since it will shorten battery life. I would hope the Blaze has a voltage cutoff to shut it down to prevent over-discharging of the battery.

Recent studies also show tyat a LIPO battery should not be fully charged also, 80-90% at the max. Without, any way of monitoring the charge i don't worry about it.

Is it okay to use a wall charger instead of plugging the charger into your PC or Mac?  Seems a little limiting that I always have to have my PC running when i want to charge my Blaze.  Thanks for any help!.

If you read my post three above yours you will see that I use a 2amp USB wall charger. The same one I use for my phone.

I charge when I get the first low battery warning, which will show up on the clock screen. Charging usually takes 1 1/2 hours. When fully charged I remove it from the charger. I get 8+ days on a charge. My last charge lasted 12 days. I ended up charging on the morning of the 13th day. Currently on the 9th day for this charge.

All day sync = Off

Quick View = Off

Bluetooth Classic = Off (control music with Bluetooth earbuds)

Brightness = Normal

Heart Rate = Auto

Notifications = On

Shutdown when going to bed since I don't track sleep. Don't want anything on my wrist while sleeping.

Hello @SunsetRunner welcome to the Fitbit Community! 🙂 Yes you can use any wall charger as long as it is UL- certified. @AZPete thanks for your cooperation!

Mine will charge with direct wall charger much faster - it takes HOURS using it connected to my laptop which is WAY longer than my Fitbit One did. I could charge that on my computer and it would work fine, I find the Blaze needs plugged into a charger connected to an outlet.

@BrendaLMorris there could be several reasons for this, the Blaze has a bigger battery and uses more current. Probably the reason is that the laptop is only providing a little more current than what the blaze is using. This means there is not much left to charge the battery, I found the Surge even worse.
