I just recently purchased a Blaze and overall I am happy with the product.
One thing I discovered and it appears several others have also, is a problem with the Connected GPS feature. I linked my phone to the Blaze and went for my usual run. Upon return, I discovered that the distance and pace measurements were quite inaccurate. My regular 7.3km run came back as 9.6km and my pace was overly complimentary (unfortunately). I found out from a Fitbit support person that distance and pace is measured purely from the Fitbit i.e. your predetermined stride length rather than the GPS info from your phone, hence an accurate measurement of stride length is required. It appears the GPS is only used to map your run directionally.
I wondered and passed onto the support person whether the Blaze Connected GPS function could incorporate an option whereby you could choose whether distance/pace information could be generated from the Blaze i.e. stride length, or from the phone i.e. Connected GPS data. This would in no-way compromise the accuracy of the Blaze itself and could be beneficial in other ways e.g. provide a back-up check as to the accuracy of your preset stride length on the Blaze.
I would like to see this as an option for any future firmware upgrade. What do you think?
