Firmware Update Help!

I noticed that my blaze is a couple firmware updates behind. I have put it in the charging case and plugged it into the computer, but I have no idea how to actually "update" it. Can someone please help? I'm still on the 17.8.200.3 version...

@HOLLY21 Yep, you're currently on the latest firmware as @mcrmama pointed out. New one is coming up. 🙂

@HOLLY21 what type of computer?

Let's go to the help docs, for how to update the tracker.

Best Answer

ok, so it doesn't update through the computer it's plugged into then, just through the app on my phone. So when I go to my phone app there is no "pink arrow" (which obviously after reading means there is no update available) but I've read that there has been another update since this version... Can anyone confirm what the latest update is?

That is the latest update I believe. There is a new one coming in September but it is not out yet.

Hi @maxty - Fitbit hasn't announced a specific date, but indicated the update would be soon. As we know from past firmware updates, they are released in waves, so once released, not everyone will get the update immediately.

I've been vocally disappointed that the new firmware is clearly available (it is active on the new gold series Blaze) but the update to our existing Blaze seems to be stalled.  I keep hearing/reading it's "coming in September".  I'd like to have that update now please!

@CyndyFit how do you like your gold series Blaze, personaly i feel it is to much for just some extra bling.

Best Answer
Yeah it's pretty upsetting always hearing coming soon. We've been hearing this for awhile now. Just release it already!!

I don't have the Gold, I only refer to it since it's being sold presumably with the new firmwear but we're still holding our breath as existing Bkaze owners awaiting an unofficial date of release. I'm fine with my current Fitbit but of course I'd LOVE the promised firmware already.

As the moderators point out when it is released there will be a pinned to the top of the Blaze Forum, there will not be an unofficial release daye set.
My feeling is that some luring popped one will cause major problems if released.

And this is what may finally push into getting an Apple watch.  Just for the new clockfaces.  Especially now that the new models have come out and the old ones are discounted.

The Blaze is at 199 and the older Apple watches are 189 and 219 at Best Buy.  Hope that update comes soon.  Can't imagine I'm the only one thinking this way.

Hi everyone! It's great to see you guys around participating in the forums!

I know you've been waiting for so long for the new update to come out and we REALLY appreciate your patience with all this. The process of developing, testing and making sure it's working good is not as easy as you would think but I can promise that this will be release pretty soon. Just hang in there a little while more.

Thank you all for your comprehension and we hope you can all enjoy the new features that will come with it!

Anything, let me know!

Please know I'm not try to be difficult but Since the only difference between the current Blaze and the Gold Series is cosmetic and the new firmwear is on the Gold I'm having difficulty understanding what's the hold up. I develop software for a living and I know if an app works for one device it will work for another with the same operating system. There maybe some minor adjustments but I can't imagine a great deal more research, development or time should be necessary. The core audience who may buy the Gold are the ones being asked to wait on the update. Not a great business strategy.

Do we know the gold one has the new firmware?  I am just asking as the fitbit shop for the special addition does not show reminders to move or notifications other than calendar, text or phone.  I have not seen anyone with the new one yet myself so curious if that is the case.

I think the update is likely soon so looking forward to it coming out.  I hope the update goes well and does not have the struggles the Alta update is going through right now.  I am sure Customer service is being kept busy.

You make a great point. Up until now, the way I was reading the advertising, it appeared the Gold Series was packaged with the revised firmwear. On closer inspection it seems that's a "coming soon" feature for all Blaze owners. I'm a little less frustrated but only a little. Isn't it frustrating to be promised all sorts of things but then no idea of when it will occur? Was this a ploy to make the Gold series more attractive and worth investing in?
