FitBit App BPM Sync Delay?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

 Hello everyone!

Just got my first fitbit this past wednesday, and I've been wearing it ever since. I love it, how it tracks everything, my heart rate, steps, etc. I have a question about the app though...

So whenever I open the FitBit App, the Dashboard is the first screen you see, and once I open it, it says that it's syncing with the FitBit. The problem I have is with the heart rate section.

Everything (steps, miles, calories, floors, etc) syncs pretty quick and automatically, but the bpm always has a delay. It will also show my bpm and then show -- right afterwards, whereas everything else will show me the number and will seamlessly update.

Is this normal or should I be concerned?

I have the FitBit Blaze GunMetal edition and my phone is a Nexus 6P.

Also, on the FitBit itself, sometimes when I bring the watch up to see my progress, my heart rate would be up high, and then I would see it start to drop, as in it's not reading it properly?

I'm not sure if there is anything wrong with this, or if I'm just being paranoid.

Lastly (sorry for the many questions), how tight do you wear your FitBit? I got the large size, and I have it inside the 7th hole from the top of the watch band (sorry if I don't know watch terminology). So I'm able to put one finger through the band, so it's not too tight. If I go one more above to make it tighter, then I start noticing my wrist hurting and an imprint on my skin.

Hope someone can help me! I've been checking my dashboard everyday, so I'll be around.

Thank you all!

Moses

Hi there @heyitsmoses. Good to see you in the Fitbit forums and congratulations on your first Fitbit tracker! 😄

When it comes to the heart rate taking a while to sync, this is normal. The same thing happens with sleep tracking. Sometimes, if you don't see the HR or sleep records synced right away, you can force quit the Fitbit app and open it again to sync. Doing this should refresh everything and should reflect the latest information on your tracker.

Now, the HR coming down when you see the display, I would say this will happen sometimes when you last saw your stats on your Blaze. If it was high and you looked at your tracker a while later when you're more calm, it should start dropping and maybe it's not a dramatic change but will slowly go down to the current readings.

And finally, about how tight you should wear it. It should be tight enough for it not to lose contact with your skin to accurately track your heart rate but not too tight for you to feel it uncomfortable.

Hope this helps and if anyone else has any other insight on this, you're welcome to add 🙂

Thank you for your response. I've noticed it working more accurately after I did a reset, and removed the app from my phone and redownloaded it.

If you can help me with one last question, that would be great! Unless you think it'll be best for me to start a new thread about it?

And, not at all. You can ask me here and I'll be glad to answer.

the first night i wore my fitbit, when it was tracking my heart rate during sleep, it was anywhere between 66-53 bpm.

the next night, my bpm was from 64-54 when i was asleep.

the next night, my bpm was from 72-53 when i was asleep.

now, last night, it was anywhere from 79-56 bpm, and the night before it was pretty high also.

i'm honestly not trying to find a reason to hate this watch, i love it. i just don't want to fool myself that it's functioning properly, when it's not, and since it hasn't been two weeks yet, i can still take it back to best buy and exchange it for one that actually works.
