What does the Fitbit Blaze screen display?

  1. The FitBit Charge HR screen is blank and shows time only when you double tap on it
  2. The FitBit Surge is always on screen displaying time
  3. The Apple Watch screen is blank and until you flip your wrist at eye level

What does the Fitbit Blaze screen show all the time -- is it like (1) the Fitbit Charge HR, (2) the Fitbit Surge or (3) the Apple Watch?

Fitbit has said the screen on the Blaze is normally off, and like the Charge HR uses QuickView to turn on when you bring it up to view it. (Like the Apple Watch.)

Your point 1 isn't quite correct. The fitbit Charge HR actually can be set to display the time when you raise your wrist, same as the Apple watch. It is an option in the settings.

My feeling is that this is the best of both worlds,  the display doesn't need to be on until you want to look at it. Why use the battery for displaying data when it is not wanted.

Does anyone know if the blaze will have the option to keep the watchface on permanently? I use both a vivoactive and an hr , and the vivoactive works much better as a watch as a result even though I prefer using a fitbit. Would like to know before I order a blaze?

No, as asked and answered in a couple other threads the display is normally off, and uses QuickView to turn on automatically when you bring it up to view it. (Just like the Charge HR and the backlight on the Surge.)

@Cjm1000I merged your question into this thread as it is pertinent to this same subject.

@richwo@Cjm1000Great question. As @Michael pointed out above, Blaze does not stay on persistently. To @Rich_Laue's point, in order to conserve battery life Blaze incorporates the Quick View feature like the Charge HR (kudos to @EdNap for remembering this).

Let me tell you, when you do turn the display on, it's a thing of beauty! Robot Very Happy

Are we able to turn quick view off? I don't like it and would rather just have the option of pushing the button to turn it on like my Charge.

Best Answer

@matt9013You definitely have the option to turn Quick View OFF and ON just like you do with your Charge. The setting lives in the "Settings" page on the Blaze as well as on the "Device Settings" page in the online Dashboard.

@ErickFitbit   will the default screen for quick view still always be time only or will it be able to set quick view to HR or something else?  Thanks., Current models quick view all goes straight to time only no ability to change

i'm in healthcare and would prefer to have the display on at all times so that I can see the seconds hand. At the very least it would be nice if I could decide how long i want the display on, rather than the 4 seconds quickview gives me on my charge HR

Best Answer

will you be able to change the display timeout like the apple watch? My husband just bought one and you can change between 7 seconds,15 seconds, etc which is healthcare friendly for those of us who need a watch to check pulses.

Best Answer

@Fitibiti_ng You won't have that problem I'm afraid since there currently is no second hand or indication on the Blaze clock formats.

@Fitibiti_ng , there will be a stopwatch function, so perhaps you can use that for checking pulses?

I like that thought @Julia_G! I just had to check my surge to confirm that we have seconds on both the stopwatch and the countdown timer.

Nice!

@MikeF @Julia_G Yeah I realized that just after my post. It's a shame that something marketed as a "smart watch" doesn't have the basic functions of a normal watch. Unfortunately when you work in an emergency room (unless there's a clock around), there's just not a lot of time for fiddling around with the click to get it to the appropriate screen for a stop watch. I actually returned my surge because I (once again) assumed that a seconds hand would be present as a clock face style like the charge HR. I totally buy the notion that a second to second update would drain the battery more but I would like the option. Once the apple watch 2 comes out, I have to say bye to fitbit. There's no reason to wear a fitness band AND a watch during this age in technology. I guess I'll just have pay 100 bucks more though

@Craig You can decide to view either the date, heart rate, distance, calories, floors climbed, or steps from the default clock face.

@Fitibiti_ng I recommend voting for this existing idea within our Feature Request board. In addition, you can do as @Julia_G pointed out and use the built in stopwatch to view how many seconds have passed.

I've preordered blaze, and during workouts, I like the screen always on, and activating quick view constantly is annoying, maybe allow it to stay on for workouts, I'm willing to charge it right after coz it will use a lot of power

Withthe standard clock face you can tap on the screen and it will cycle through the date, HR, steps, etc.  What ever you leave it at is where it will be when you raise your wrist!

Hope that FitBit will also give us some new watch faces every once in a while.
