Fitbit Blaze - Different readings between exercise modes?!

 Hey,

I have been using Fitbit for AGES and this has always bugged me as I can't get my head around it and my OCD niggles away every time I try and figure it out!

So, for example - I walk ALOT, and I walk with a pace, around 4 miles an hour...

Everyday I walk 2 miles to work and back again - a couple of times my Fitbit did't Auto track it, so every time I set off, I manually log it under 'Walking' - usually burn between 190-220 calories in that 30 minutes or so. HOWEVER, my GPS is completely off and it doesn't count my mileage accurately at all which makes me wonder if it calculates anything accurately in this mode. For example - I did a 9.5 mile walk yesterday, my Fitbit took it as 8.2 miles. A little annoying.

Anyway, so when I do 'Workout' I burn alot more calories doing the same speed and exact same walk - this morning under 'Workout' I burnt almost 280 in the same 30 minutes!

Does anyone know how to fix this or which exercise mode is most accurate? I base my food intake and alot of things around what I burn during the day so would be good to know which is most accurate! 🙂

Any guidance would be great, if someone has the answer - EVEN BETTER!! 😄

A warm welcome to the Community @JayJayCotts.

I think that you burned your calories depending on the exercise you are doing. If you do a high intense activity you will burn more calories than when you do while walking. For more information about this you can take a look at the How does Fitbit estimate how many calories I've burned? and How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity? articles.

I hope this helps, catch you later. Man Happy

Hey, sorry for the late response!

Thanks for messaging me back.

This is the thing, when I walk I walk very fast, faster than most people (because I overtake them all, ha!). I've done the same walk at the same pace under the Walking option and Workout options and they give me two different readings, from 180 calories to about 220?!
