I received my Fitbit Blaze today and I am having issues setting it up. I placed it in its charging base, plugged it into my computer, downloaded the software for windows, and went through the whole setup process. I cannot get past the screen where it says please connect the dongle. My setup screen also shows that there is no fitbit connected (even though it is). I've done the following things based on the help section of this website and nothing has allowed me to get past the 'connect the dongle' screen in setup.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit Connect software numerous times.
Restarted my computer numerous times.
I've connected the USB wire with the Blaze in its charging cradle to every USB port I have on my computer (10) with no luck.
Restarted the Fitbit by holding the left and bottom right buttons for 10 seconds, several times.
I've tried everything listed above on my Windows 7 laptop (in addition to my desktop computer) with no luck.
Stuck at connect the dongle on my computer, and fitbit.com/setup on my Blaze screen. I've been at this for several hours now.
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit Professional - and I will not be updating to Windows 10 any time soon.
Please help.
Thanks for the useless post. Mainstream support ending simply means the product is complete, there are no new additions/features or tweaks, and Microsoft won't take free support calls on it anymore. It's still under the extended support phase, and will continue to receive security updates, hotfixes, etc. until 2020. Windows 7 accounts for over 45% of the PC marketshare currently.
With all that said, I think this is a relevant issue that Fitbit needs to address.
Useless or not, I'm merely mentioning that given it's an old os, where there have been several iterations since, I'm not surprised that when a new product comes out, that os isn't a priority. Oh and I've also read that the Blaze was designed for W10. Also that even 8.1 has issues.
And your welcome 🙂
Best AnswerI just figured out how to get mine to work. I started setting it up with my LG G4. It worked right away. I hope that helps some!!

@sen1876 wrote:Hi All! Use your phone to set it up. I was having the same problem then used my phone and it worked fine.
OK. I am confused. I have a phone and a Win7 PC. I just upgraded from Flex, which was syncing with both the phone and the PC.
I actually preferred to look at my progress on the PC most of the time, but I suppose I could get used to doing it on the phone, but I am still confused.
How do you charge it, if you don't use a computer? Well, I suppose you could use another USB connection...
The reason I'm asking because I don't think mine is charging. Have it plugged in to the PC and I don't have a battery graphic showing at all, Only the Fitbit icon and under that is has fitbit.com/setup
I presumed that I need to charge it before doing anything else. Am I wrong?
Best AnswerYou will have to purchase the dongle separately. Not overly impressed with Fitbit at the moment myself. Purchased the Blaze for a whopping $250 plus tax and then find that I had to purchase the dongle because NO WHERE on the packaging does it provide system requirements! Another $30 for the dongle and I STILL can't get it to setup! I'm also running Windows 7 on a desktop and it will not let me upgrade to windows 10. Says my system isn't compatible. I'll be **ahem**ed if I'm running out to purchase a new computer. The Blaze will be returned to the retailer for a refund first!
UPDATE: I went into my system and did a massive windows update and it seems to be working! YAY! Try that.
Best AnswerHaving the same issue. Having read all the above comments, I have a question - if you get a dongle to pair the device to your computer, because your computer doesn't recognize the USB/charger box ...then how do you charge your device?!
Your Fotbit will charge fine through any usb port or phone charger, this charge function does not need the OS to recognize it

Hello everyone! It's great to have you here 🙂 the Blaze tracker is optimized for Windows 10. I highly suggest using a mobile device, tablet, or a computer with Windows 10 installed for Blaze to work properly. Also the USB Dongle is not included on the package but if you need one to complete the set up process don't hesitate to reach out to our support team they will be happy to help! 🙂
@csutak40 and @runForest to charge the Blaze you need to plug the charging cradle to any USB port or UL certified wall charger. A large battery icon will appear for a few seconds then it will disappear and get you back to your main screen, you can review if your battery is charging by looking at the small battery icon on upper left corner of the screen. @airoberts I'm glad to hear your Blaze is working properly.
