Fitbit Blaze and exercise tracking

I have a multi-leveled inquiry in regard to my Blaze and running:

1. I run on the treadmill in the winter months, and I find that the running pace via treadmill does not seem to be accurate. When I run off the treadmill in races, I'm running at a 9.3-9.45 pace, however, on the treadmill I'm at a 10.25 which is not seemingly accurate when I'm running at a 6.3-6.5 speed (averaging 9.31). Is there something to be said that it doesn't seem as accurate for others via treadmill too? Or just me?

2. I am fairly certain I went to my settings and asked it to notify me every .50 miles, vs. a mile--and I had a voice cue set--even previewed it, but if I am running I've never heard it come on. I know on Runkeeper it will talk to you over your music application, but what's the point in setting voice cues if it won't really cue you. Sometimes I don't feel the vibration of the fitbit to know I've hit the next mile.

3. Finally, is there not a way to identify your pace during your current run on your phone vs. having to look at the watch. I hate feeling like I'm sacrificing my already inconsistently monitored time on the treadmill to look at the watch for current pace, time, and distance--which again seem off because it tells me I'm going slower than I really am (which is disheartening me to the core), but it's annoying. If I am on the treadmill I'd love to open fitbit and see my run while it's happening also on my phone interface.

Maybe I've not done enough research, maybe you all know some tricks I don't, and maybe this is not the fitbit for me. Perhaps I need to upgrade, but I do love "most" of what blaze has to offer with a few issues on all levels. Either way....hope you all can help me.

Hi there @mldi226, welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums! 🙂

I would like to help you out with these questions.

1. The reason why you might not be getting pace data when you're on the treadmill is  because of how the Fitbit tracks your activity. Fitbit devices use a 3-axis accelerometer to understand your motions. An accelerometer is a device that turns movement (acceleration) into digital measurements (data) when attached to the body. When you're on a treadmill, you're technically not moving forward, making it hard for your tracker to determine acceleration and therefore, pace.

2. The voice cues will come from your phone, so this means that you will need to be close to your phone or have headphones connected to your phone to be able to hear these voice cues.

3. Currently, the only two things that you can monitor in real time from your phone are steps and heart rate. You will not be able to see your pace in real time on your phone or the current exercise in general on your phone but you will only be able to see this information from your tracker while you're doing the activity.

Hope this answers your questions. If you have more doubts or I wasn't clear on something or if I didn't get your questions right, feel free to let me know. I'll be happy to help!

Thank you.

My only concern is for #2. I have gone to settings and activated voice cues, even had them set to high--I listen to music and never manually have my phone sitting without hooking up my bluetooth headphones, and since I've had this fitbit I've never heard voice cues during any run I've tracked. I even set it to every half mile, and still nothing.

Thank you for taking the time. Bummer about not being able to see pace in real time 😞
