Fitbit Connect (PC) asking for a dongle?

Hi team,

 

Just bought a Blaze (first Fitbit product). The setup software is asking me to connect a dongle. I dont have a dongle and I cannot continue to setup my new device without said dongle. I shouldn't need one, right?

 

I am also having trouble with the charging cable. It is not recognised in any USB ports in my PC which may be affecting this.

 

I am on Windows 8.1 and have the latest Fitbit Connect software.

 

A frustrating first experience with fitbit. Any help appreciated.

Maybe a stupid question, but did you restart the computer yet? Other users in other forum threads have reported that some computer systems out the USB ports to sleep and don't properly wake the USB bus when a new device is connected. Seems a common issue. The USB dongle won't work AT ALL with the latest Mac OS X... I'm hoping Fitbit/Apple fixes it sometime this decade...
