I live in a 2 story house. I go up and down at a minimum of 5 times a day. It doesn't register 1/2 the time. And even less now that I have a knee injury and can't just walk up the stairs. Why can't we manually enter floors climbed?

@LesDoro a couple of things to be aware off with floor counts.

  • The ceilings need to be at least 10 feet high
  • Your tracker needs to be seeing that your moving. You don't mention if the tracker is adding the steps walked up the stairs.
  • Holding onto the railing with your fitbit arm may cause a loss of some steps.
  • Normally Fitbit doesn't reward floors with extra calories, the increased heart rate will.

If your ceiling is high enough, my first thought would be to check the step count before and after walking up the stairs. Did the tracker count them all?

Please keep us informed.

Thank you Rich_Laue, my ceilings are 10', however my railings are on the left which happens to be the side of my blown out knee, so I hang on tight. Oh, and yes
..tracker is still counting the steps.
Again, thank you!!! Be safe out there running. And Happy Thanksgiving

I'm not sure @LesDoro, maybe @FerdinandFitbit could chime in, could there be a set climbing speed needed for a floor to be recorded?

@Rich_Laue I wanted to step in and let you guys know that speed is a key element for floors to count as well. @LesDoro, your Fitbit tracker registers a floor when it detects continuous motion in a certain velocity combined with an elevation gain of about 10 feet. Cat Tongue Let me know if you guys have any other inquiry, I'll be around!

I'm good @MariamV, this thread got me wondering if the climb has to be within a certain time period.
Have a good Turkey day!
