On my dashboard the friends tile is empty (second pic) now since the last update, when I click on the tile it shows up like this (1 pic)

Scroll to the bottom of the tile and hover of see to see more friends. Click on that and they will show

@Genalee this isn't a problem with the update but a bug that's being investigated by fitbit. Keep an eye on the following thread which has their latest updates on progress:
