GPS run accuracy

I went for a walk today and I use Map my run and the fitbit blaze GPS. When I was done. Map my run said I walked 3.1 miles with 6371 steps (15 min/mile) and my Blaze said 2.56 miles with 3,918 steps (20 min/mile). I was walking a fast pace. I need to know if the blaze is off. I feel like it is. I turned off my automatic stride and lowered my stride in as it was 27.5 in and I lowered it 21.5 inches which I say some other suggest. Any other recommendations, should I return it?

Its the Blaze that is off. It has issues properly counting steps. So if you rely on the number of steps multiplied by your stride, the total will be wrong. There are also issues with the "Connected GPS" staying connected and the app properly following your route. It cuts corners, straightens curves and plots points nowhere near your route. But somehow other distance measuring apps such as MapMyWalk are spot on using your phones same GPS capibilities.

Welcome to the Community @Krystra1 and @MikeS1971 thanks for stopping by. I would like to know if you keep having problems with the connected GPS and the information? If you do, I recommend taking into consideration the following requirements:

  • Bluetooth is enabled on your phone and your tracker is connected to the phone. To confirm, go into your phone's Bluetooth settings and make sure you see Blaze on the list of devices.
  • You selected an exercise type from the Exercise menu that has a gear icon in the bottom left corner. The gear icon represents connected GPS.
  • GPS is turned on for the exercise type. Tap the gear icon and make sure the Use Phone GPS setting is on.
  • Your phone is within about 20 feet of your tracker.
  • Your phone can identify your location and can track your location when you're not using Wi-Fi.
  • The Fitbit app is open on your phone or running in the background. Do not force quit the Fitbit app.

After verifying all the requirements, try using GPS again. If you're still having difficulty, try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Open the Fitbit app to reestablish a connection with your tracker.
  2. Reboot your mobile device.

I hope this helps, let me know the outocme. Woman Happy
