How is resting heart rate algorithm determined?

I'm confused about how Fitbit's algorithm determines resting heart rate. Everything I have read says resting heart rste should be taking upon waking up or a few minutes after waking up while you are still in bed. If I look at my Fitbit blaze at that time, when I wake up naturally, my heart rate is at 56-59. However, Fitbit is pretty much always saying my resting heart rate is 65. This does not make sense.

Resting Rate

will be higher that your just waking up rate.

If you want to compare the calculated rate manually, here are the medical guidelines:

Your resting heart rate is the heart pumping the lowest amount of blood you need because you’re not exercising. If you’re sitting or lying and you’re calm, relaxed and aren’t ill, you’ll be able to find your “normal” heart rate.

Your normal heart rate, or pulse, is the number of times your heart beats per minute. Rates vary from person to person, and knowing yours can be an important gauge of your heart health, the AHA says.

To find out your resting heart rate, find your pulse – at your wrist, neck, back of a knee or ankle – and count the beats for 1 full minute. Or count the beats for 30 seconds and multiply by 2. This can also give you the beats per minute.
