New Firmware and Syncing after Shut-Down

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Good morning,

Just wondering why do I now have to sync my tracker every morning before it shows the right date and time? I read on the firmware post it is required just wondering how long will I have to sync it every morning before I do anything else.

NB I don't wear my tracker to sleep at the moment, hence I shut it down to save battery overnight

I support @Honorgon's question, it was working well before, will it be rectified (as it's kind of inconvenient) or is this just the new norm going forward ?

Also, do I lose all steps taken prior to synching for the first time ? (I think I've lost a few but I haven't checked consistently)

Thanks.

Hi, I also **ahem** my blaze down at night and I forgot to sync mine first thing this morning, as it wasn't needed before. I checked my steps before I then synced it and lost all my mornings steps. So yes I think you do lose your steps! Which is very irritating.

I found the clock slowed down drastically with the Fitbit off, soby not syncing the steps will be credited to the wrong time maybe even the wrong day.

BTW when removing the Fitbit from the arm, the HR lights go out and your really not scaring much by turning it off.

@Angharad24 I explained it a bit on the bottom of the firmware post. Technically you didn't lose the steps, they just aren't associated with the correct time.

Thanks for the replies guys, I use the watch to tell the time too rather than look at my phone on a morning. So I was asking will I now always have to sync in the morning? The green HR lights do not stop if I don't shut it down......

@Honorgon

Mine stop when I take it off my wrist to shower. Did you set the Heart Rate Monitor to Auto? If so, this I believe saves on the battery. I charge mine once every 5-6 days.

As for syncing, I work 3rd shift, so, here's my sync schedule, although it's personal preferences, but at minimum, once a day should suffice:

Sunday: Between 11:15am-1:00pm and 10:10-11:45pm. Sometimes, the app will tell you that the sync has been scheduled and will start soon. If this is the case, I'd leave it alone. Eventually, it will sync. Might take a bit sometimes, but it will sync. This depends however on Internet traffic. Mine started at 11:05 last night. Didn't finish until 11:45. I chalked that up to Internet Traffic. Plus it's the weekend.

Monday-Thursday: Between 7:00-8:45am and 10:10-11:45pm.

Friday and Saturday: I don't sync. The watch will retain that information for the next sync. Those are my days off. The spec sheet will tell you that it retains minute-by-minute information for 7 days and 30 days of daily summaries.

I also manually initiate sleep through the app, rather than having the phone detect it. I also have the phone set for the "All Day Sync" setting. This has no ill effect on my phone's battery, because I'm listening to music through my Bluetooth Headset, so if it syncs during that's good too. If I'm listeing to music through Bluetooth, a sync is possible.

Hey thank you so much! I have put HR on Auto now (it was 'ON' before) and now it stops flashing when it's off my wrist so i'll just leave it on during the night I guess, I don't mind having to charge it a bit more if it saves me from having to BT it every morning 😛

Thanks so much!
