Inaccurate Step Count

So i am a forklift driver in a freezer ware house. I switched my fotbit nlaze to dominant hand but it still adds extra steps wuite often is there anything i can do to make it more accurate im afraid that over the course of the day itll add up quite a bit and throw off my calories. Its on my hand that deals with control's not steering. Should i not worry about it and continue to use it? It gradually grows further from my s health pedometer on my phone which is on me at all times

Don't worry, you're not alone in this. I ride a motorcycle nearly everyday and on a ride to or from work it'll add anywhere from 1,500 to 4,000 steps even when the setting is set to dominate hand. That's right... 4,000 steps. which means by the end of the day, I'm potentially 80% of the way to my goal and all I did was ride a motorcycle. I've tried to turn it off my blaze before I get on the bike, but my gloves end up hitting one of the side buttons mid ride and turning it on. Plus, that means I can't even use the clock part of the watch.

I'll be honest, I'm really disappointed that there's no setting in there than allows the user to temporarily disable step tracking. That seems like a simple feature that would benefit a LOT of people. I'm sure people would forget to turn it back on, but if you allow the user to enter a time limit, basically a count down timer, where it turns back on once the timer expires, I think the masses would love it.

Hey there guys @Thintoast @Turkules. I'm happy to see you in the Forums! 🙂

Your tracker has been tested against driving, buses, trains, and other public transportation and should not give you extra steps when you’re traveling under normal conditions. On bumpy roads or in a car with a stiff transmission you may get extra steps. Though a few extra steps won't affect your trends, if it bothers you its possible to log a Driving activity and remove the steps from your account totals.

It is not possible to delete steps and floors, but you can achieve the same result by negating them. For that, you can follow these steps:

  1. Log into your fitbit.com dashboard.
  2. At the top of the screen click Log > Activity.
  3. Find the data you want to negate by selecting a date range.
  4. In the activity menu, type in "Driving" and enter the duration and start time.
  5. Click Log Activity. Your steps, floors, and calories burned will decrease for the time period you specified.

Also, there's a feature suggestion that you might want to add your vote or comment that is for this matter. You can see it here.
