Inaccurate steps and miles

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.
I have noticed that my blaze has been off for a while but my friend and I tracked the same walk and she logged 4.5 miles and my blaze tracked 2.1, plus my steps were 2k off from hers and we walked almost identical. I have restarted the device several times but it's still very inaccurate. Any other ideas I could do to adjust it so it's almost accurate.

Take a look at you stride length. I had the same problem. Login into your Fitbit account and go to advance setting. Look for stride length and click on it. You can Change your stride length manually by turning off Set Automatically. When you set your profile for your height Fitbit automatically set your stride. It took me a few weeks to get my stride length. There are many way to find your stride.

Hi there guys @Aclobos @Kellkan7, good to see you in the Community! 🙂

I totally agree with @Aclobos. Take a look at your stride length and you can update it manually by going to the Advanced settings if you go to the Account section at the lower right corner of your dashboard. Here, you can choose to enter your walking and running stride length and this will help your calculations to be more accurate.

Let us know if you need more help with this!

I tried that and it was still inaccurate. I'm only getting 1/2 my miles. I
did adjust my stride but it still came up very short of what I counted per
step in my head when walking 100 steps. I contacted customer service and
they are checking into it for me. I appreciate your feedback and trying to
assist.

You may have already done this but if not give this a try.
To measure your stride length, please do the following:

1. Go to a track or somewhere where you know the exact distance.
2. Count your steps as you walk across that distance, making sure you travel at least 20 steps.
3. Divide the total distance (in feet) taken by the number of steps to get your stride length.

Your running stride can be calculated the same way, only by running a known distance rather than walking.

To adjust this setting on your dashboard, do the following:

1. Log into your Fitbit.com dashboard and click on the gear icon in the upper right corner of your dashboard.
2. Select "Settings".
3. You will see a field for Stride Length and Running Stride Length. From here, you can manually enter your personal stride length. If you leave these blank, your profile will estimate these values based on your height and gender.
4. Click the "Update Profile" button to save your changes. Note that a sync will be required to update your tracker with your new stride measurements.

Hey Ferdinand....we've been adjusting Stride Length since the Reagan Administration and the Blaze is still off by 20-30% for most of us here.

New clock faces won't fix the problem.

We were told the FitBit tech guys were working on a software fix and now we find out they weren't.

Thanks for being so responsive to customer needs.

As ever, the ability to identify and fix problems encountered by a subset of users is really limited. I'd guess they've been looking but that doesn't meen they found anything in time to make the cut for this release.

I guess I'll stay with the old version until they have corrected all the bugs. Just wish they could fix the accuracy of the steps and miles walked. To bad there was not a way for Fitbit to readjust our stride for our daily habits. Sometimes we walk slow and then we walk faster or supper fast. Any how one day they will get it right.
