I've searched the forums about this but there are many different answers to this. I workout mostly doing cardio on a cross trainer machine, and i don't know how to log that activity correctly. I am mostly interested in the step count being as reliable is possible.

Okey, so my question is this:

Should i log my training as a elliptical from fitbit blaze or should i use the smart tracker and let the blaze find the workout by itself? Or do i go about this any other way?

Hi, @Emlehh, the reason that you are seeing many different answers to this question is because there is no right answer.  Different ways work for different people depending on how they like to use their Fitbit amd what is most important to them.

Having said that, I have noticed that sometimes people complain that  when using the elliptical, SmartTrack did not pick up all of their workout.  You would have to try for yourself to see if that was an issue for you.

I like to start my exercises on the Blaze using the exercise shortcuts so that I am in control of my start/ end time.  But that's just me.

It's great to welcome you @Emlehh and @Julia_G thanks for stopping by.

As our friend mentioned, there's no a correct answer for this. I recommend trying both, you can one day log the activity directly from your tracker and another day using SmartTrack. You can then track your exercise the way that convince you the most.

Hi.

I had a workout this morning and my smart-track didn't pick up anything. So i guess I will have to start my exercise from the blaze (like you) so that my workouts will show up on the dashboard.
