I had the same problem. Well, still do sort of.

I hooked it up to the charger, as you did, and it appears to be updating. However, it's taking forever. I don't know if it's stuck in a loop, or if it really takes this long to update.

I understand your frustration, but there is no reason to get upset. I'm sure there is a good explanation.

Anyone reading this, do you know how long it takes for the device to update to the latest version?

@Monique85  Until you set up the tracker, the display will only show Fitbit.com/setup. Once you add the tracker, it will then show battery indicator.

I'm having the same issue. I received a new fitbit blaze and I can't update it without charging it but it's not updating. I'm very annoyed

Same problem here. Blaze only says fitbit.com/setup when plugged in--doesn't show charging icon. The phone app says it can't download hardware until the Blaze charges. Blaze won't charge.

I don't have that issue. I recently assembled a desk in the spare room of my house which I'm using as my office. I recently moved the Blaze Charger (third party, I have the orginal in the box), from my Xbox One to my USB Hub for my computer. My Xbox One was handling the charging.

Check to see that the USB port (s) are working.

This reply is for everyone on this thread.
If you get the message you tracker needs charging.
Place it into its charger and plug the charger into a powered up USB port or phone charger.
As you plug it in you should a vibration, this tells you it is charging..
There will not be a bAttery indicator on the screen until it is set up.
Leave it charging an hour then try the setup again.
If at this time if the app says the battery is to low, then a different charger, one with more watts.

I had a lot of trouble today setting up my wife's new Blaze.

Key tip. Go to fitbit online and download the full manual. No instructions in the box. I didn't know how to fit the unit into the charger until I accidently popped the unit out of the frame.

I was using a Windows 7 PC with no built in bluetooth. No "dongle" in the box to provide bluetooth connectivity. The Blaze won't sync to the computer using the charger (at least not with Windows 7).

Luckily I pulled out my wife's ipod, turned on bluetooth, downloaded the fitbit app, and bingo! It connected with the Blaze, downloaded new software and sync'd to her Fitbit account (existing).

Also, Fitbit customer support is pretty poor over the phone. I spoke to 3 people and none of them spoke English well.

I was pretty upset that there was no way to setup the Blaze without some sort of Bluetooth mobile device. Without setup all you'll get is the stupid "fitbit.com/setup" on the screen of the device.

I requested a supervisor who at least offered to send me a dongle at no charge.

Of course they're on backorder for a week or two.

No info on the box about requiring a bluetooth (mobile) device for setup or that Windows 7 (non-bluetooth) computers are incompatible for setup.

You need either Windows 10 on your PC, or a PC or laptop (notebook) that was maufactured either after Windows 10 came out or after January 1, 2016, that has Bluetooth on the motherboard in order to use the PC to sync through the app.

The Blaze does not include the dongle. However my Alta did include one.

Smae roblem. The rest of this thread doesn't address the problem of it not charging. It's fresh out of the box into the cradle, so cleaning it isn't the issue. No battery icon as it says I should expect on the website. No "buzz" as later reply suggests when clipped into the cradle. It can't be set-up until it has a charge, so suggesting that it be set-up first isn't helpful or possible. Do I just have a dud charger?

My tracker keeps saying Fitbit.com/ setup even though my phone shows that it is setup, paired and syncing! I'm so frustrated.

I have had the same problem, wouldnt charge when plugged in to laptop. The sound would come on when i plugged in so just figured it was charging too slow. Found a 1 amp samsung charger, plugged it in to that and 5 mins (literally) later its syncing up. Don't know if this will help everyone, but I had mine plugged in to the laptop for most of boxing day only to be told it still not charged enough. So was getting pretty frustrated!

I had the same problem, it drove me insance. Unsync the Blaze from your phone/pc, reset the blaze by holding the left button + bottom right. Plug the charging cradle into a power point USB charger, resync the blaze to your device and it should update while charging via the USB.
