No Notifications on Galaxy S8

I just got a Galaxy S8 (previously had an S7) and now I'm not getting any notifications on my Blaze. The Blaze is synced to my phone and I checked the Fitbit Compatibility page - the S8 shows it's as compatible as the S7, so why am I not getting any notifications at all?

It's great to have you here @rissyxlou! Samsung Galaxy S8 is a supported device just as you mentioned. I would like you to try these steps My Fitbit device isn't receiving notifications from my phone

Hope this helps you to get notifications in your Blaze. Keep me posted.

I had the same issue when switching to the S8.

You have to go into the app settings and select which apps are allowed to send out notification.

For example,  I use 'Message+' for my text messages.

Go into your phone settings > Apps > App manager > Message+ >  app settings 'Notifications' > 'Allow Notifications'  'On'

When you get to the app manager,  you will have to scroll down to find which ever app you want to allow Notifications.

I hope that makes sense and helps

I'm sorry, but you explaining that the Samsung s8 is a supported device is very misleading. I've only had my Samsung s8 for a few weeks and I've had the same issues as everyone else who has posted on these forums. Notifications will not come through on the fitbit blaze, and there is a battery drain causing the device to last only two to three days before needing charged again. I guarantee you fitbit is losing customers because this is a major flaw causing major frustrations with their customers. After speaking with customer service and getting told to pretty much 'just deal with it,' my future smart watch will not be any model of fitbit. After observing that these complaints date back to April of 2017, it's clear that fitbit has known of this issue for several months, yet still has decided to ignore the issue while also blowing off their customers.

Agreed! I just upgraded from the HR to the Blaze and I've just decided that I'm DONE with Fitibit. I have the S8 and after spending way too much of my day trying to get notifications to work and trying all of the posted "trouble shooting" tricks and after reading all of the forum posts about this issue, I decided I WILL be returning my Blaze and switching to another brand, the notifications is a huge deal breaker for me. I'm very disappointed in Fitbit and they way they are choosing to fix this issue.

Are you guys saying you went into the S8 setting and followed my suggested steps?

Its the samsung,  not the blaze.    At first i felt like you and was starting to dislike the blaze.   Once i noticed how the android settings were configured on the Samsung,  it became easy.

Acrually too easy,   i have to go in and turn off some notifications.

I would love some instructions on how to fix this. I really don't want to return my blaze. I've tried so many things that I saw in this forum, none of which worked.. Thanks in advance!

Did you follow my directions?

I use 'Message+' for my text messages.

Go into your phone settings > Apps > App manager > Message+ >  app settings 'Notifications' > 'Allow Notifications'  'On'

How far did you get with the above?    Honesty its your phone not sending out the notifications,   its not the blaze

I appreciate you trying you walk us through the steps to turn our notifications on. These were the same steps given to me by fitbit customer support right before getting told they can't do anything when finding out these steps did not work. The notifications both on my phone and my blaze are switched to the allowed setting, yet the blaze still does not function properly. Also, this does not address the battery drain issue when it is paired with the phone. I have unpaired my blaze from my phone because notifications do not work and the battery is drained within two to three days when they are paired. If both of these issues are a Samsung issue, I still wouldn't understand why fitbit isn't doing more to address the issue. Leaving their customers to 'just deal with it' doesn't seem like a solution at all. Frustrating is all it is.

For notifications to work the Blaze must be paired to the phone, and the app needs to do the pairing.

For me notifications and GPS have been the only. Thing that has consistantly worked.

No change in battery life.

I have worked in I.T. for years,  and I hate hearing when someone is having troubles with technologies.   I'm the kind of person who wants everyone to enjoy their gadget just as I do without frustration.

I switched from a S5 to the S8,  and I did get frustrated when things did not work for me.

My first frustration was inconsistent distance from my Samsung Health vs fitbit.   Fitbit was always less then was the Samsung Health.  I would scroll over to 'Exercise',  then over to Bike.    Sometimes the watch would find the phone,  and sometimes not.    While looking at the time,  I would swip down,  and the 'Notification' highlighted to 'One'

When you select exercise does it find phone?

Do Not Disturb—This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off. Find this setting under Sound and notification.

goto the 'Notification' screen,   scroll down to that app and make sure it selected for "On"
