Restarted phone., let's shut hone completely off.
Do the same for the Blaze.
Make sure that the correct messaging app is selected.
On android swipe down, check that messaging is enabled. That is if you use android.
There is more i could say but not knowing the phone i can point you to the help doc at you most likely already read.

These i would notably check but you say that you receive calls, so they should be good.
Swipe down on the notifacation bar, you should see a message that Fitbit notifacations are running. If not check that messaging is enabled on the fitbit app.
In the app under the blaze settings enable a connected.
Make sure that the Blaze shows up as connected in the BT settings.
I would restart the phone and make sure that the correct app is chosen, BTW which messaging app are you using?
Swipe down on the status bar, hold your finger on the volume icon and let go, you'll go to the sound settings.. Scroll down and make sure "show on lock screen" is enabled.
In settings go to default applications, make sure messaging app is set for the correctly.
