Pair Blaze to Multiple Bluetooth?

ANSWERED
Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Is it possible to pair my Blaze to more than one bluetooth device?

Specifically:

  • I am normally paired with my Android phone.

but

  • Sometimes it would be easier / more convenient to be paired to my Windows 10 PC bluetooth.

Possible?

Convenient?

Thanks!

Accepted Solutions

...and after rebooting Windows 10, it decided to reprompt me to accept a bluetooth connection from the Blaze, I accepted, Windows 10 appeared to load a device drive for the blaze, and now the Windows 10 Fitbit App works and is fat and happy.

Thanks for the advice!

From what I understand you can only pair to one device at a time.

Hello @MOBinKC,

Yes, this is not only possible, but easy.

That said, I'll caution you about one issue.  Fitbits will communicate with any device that will talk to them (phone or PC) and like any human, it'll occasionally get confused if attempting to carry multiple conversations.

So if you do set this up, you'll notice that you may occasionally have problems syncing.  If this occurs, turn off bluetooth on one device and sync with the other.

I hope this helps.

Hello @fudge22,

There are two levels of communication Fitbits have with devices:

  • Pairing/syncing Fitbits can do with many devices.
  • The other is what Fitbit calls 'bonding' which entails two way communications.  This is to enable features like notifications, etc.

Fitbits can sync with many devices and are generally indiscriminant about that.  For the Fitbit models (like the Blaze) that have deeper device integration (like notifications), you are correct that it only supports one device at a time.

However, this is not the scenario that @MOBinKC is looking to enable.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips.

I did get the blaze to pair to Windows 10 by putting the bluetooth in "Classic" mode.

Its still synching with my Android phone.

I updated the Windows 10 app.

Although it claims its having problems finding the Blaze (in the upper right)

I did go into the Windows 10 app and set my Blaze as my primary device (I have an Aria scale and an Ultra, both 1st generation.)

Its generally working ok, I will just have to keep an eye on it.  It may be that the various software clients aren't really doing a great job updating each other in a timely manner, as you mentioned.

Hello @MOBinKC,

Pairing it with Windows 10 through "Classic" mode probably won't do anything that you expect it to do.  This is strictly so that you can enable music controls (bluetooth protocol AVRCP).  In fact, if you have done this, I would recommend that you disable bluetooth classic mode on your Blaze.  It uses the older bluetooth protocol that consumes significantly more battery.  This is fine if you want to control your music when you're out on a run, but you don't want to be doing this all the time.

Like I mentioned in my first message, you may have trouble communicating with your Blaze if you have another device chatting with it at the same time.  If you want to pair it (to sync) appropriately, do this:

  1. Turn off bluetooth on your Android phone (just during the pairing process).
  2. Run the Windows 10 Fitbit App.
  3. It'll eventually try to sync with your Blaze, when it does it'll prompt you to pair with your Blaze.  Select "Yes".
You should now be able to sync with your Windows 10 PC through bluetooth (assuming you have bluetooth LE).

I hope this helps.

As @PureEvil says the Win 10 App should have no problems as long as the bond bettween the Blaze and the phone has been broken. Thispairing must be done through the app. Ether move the phone 30+ maybe 50 feet away or simply swipe the notifacation bar down and turn off BT.

You can work around this by using the charging cable to sync through, while you are charging the Blaze through the computer.

Bluetooth Low Energy has a stronger bond than The Classic Bluetooth.

Hello @MOBinKC! I'm glad to know your Blaze is syncing properly with your  Windows 10 computer. I just like to add a link to this help article: Why is my tracker only syncing with one mobile device? if you have any questions. @Rich_Laue@PureEvil and @fudge22 thanks for your cooperation! 🙂

Thanks for stopping by! 🙂

@ShanaGarcia1  what do you mean by pair the Blaze.

A user does not pair a Fitbit tracker to the phone but pairs, actually sets up the tracker, to their Fitbit account.

Then on any device the user simply logs into their Fitbit account and their tracker will show up and sync.

If I think I understand what you are saying, I believe that you have 2 phones and each phone is linked to their individual account.

In short I believe you have created a second Fitbit account.
