Questions about using GPS while walking/running

I got my Fitbit Blaze yesterday (had a Charge HR).

I tried using the GPS function on my walk/run today.  I started it from the app using walk, because I think I walk more.  Here are my questions/problems.

It didn't show any stats on my Blaze (can I not see my stats on there if I start it on the app?).  If I wanted stats, I had to open the app.  When I opened the app, it turned off my music.  After a mile, the music finally worked the entire time, but the volume was a lot lower.  I didn't get any voice cues.

Overall, I was very happy with it.  It said I went about .16 miles more than my Charge HR said I did for the same route.

Hello @RDriesenUD and @Rich_Laue! It's great to have you here. As @Rich_Laue mentioned when you start tracking an activity through the phone your tracker won't display that information until you finish it and the information syncs also at the end of the activity you will get a summary of this. Regarding the voice cues I would try not using the music on your phone and see if that helps you to get them.

I hope this clarifies your inquiry. Woman Very Happy

That isn't what I am saying.  I am saying the stats for my run aren't on the Blaze.  I have to open my fitbit app to see them, and when I do the music stops.

I wasn't getting any information.  Steps, miles, etc.... for my run.  I am now.  I had to change something in my phone settings.

Yes, but it isn't a big deal, as I don't need to open the app during a workout now, since I have the problem fixed.

So just to clarify...blaze will not show any run stats (distance etc.) when you initiate a run through the app? Will this be fixed?

That's correct @dolevsky when using the app to track your event, your stats will show on the app.. When using the Blaze to trAck your stAts will show up on the Blaze. This is not by choice but because of limitations.

@dolevsky Strange, and yes it should be fixed. The usual response is "go search Feature Request forum for similar request and vote on it"

I think we are asking that the blaze while connected to the phones GPS and the Blaze through notifacations, not the app is recording the route,, we then want the Fitbit app to be a remote display for the run and not just the Blaze data. .

Hey @Rich_Laue thanks for clarifying and yes if the Fitbit app on phone can send gps data to Blaze, that same Fitbit app can send MobileRun data (distance/pace/etc) to Blaze for "remote display"

Sounds like a "Display live MobileRun data on Blaze" request

I'm not sure what is being asked, @RDriesenUD said he can't see pace, etc on the Blaze. Now if you start the run from the Blaze there is an option to turn the split times on and off during the run.. The blaze has this built in and doesn't need the app.

@dolevsky is asking why when tracking a run through the app, the blaze doesn't show the stats. My first thought is if you have the Blaze why use the app?

As for how the gps works? The Fitbit app has two sections, the main app with the user info, and the notifacations routine, the gps works through the notifacations not the main app that is doing the tracking. The blaze would have to be setup as a remote desktop the the app.
