Setting Stride length - length not allowed

I am using the Blaze and have gone to my settings several times to adjust stride length. It says maximum stride length is about 11 inches, which doesn't seem reasonable unless for some reason the measurement is toe-to-heel. I left it at the maximum length, then while on the treadmill my distance was 1.5 miles. On my Blaze read-out it was .45 miles. I saw notes regarding inaccurate treadmill readings, but nothing about not being able to set a reasonable stride length. I am 5'9"

That does not make sense.  The setting for stride length in the settings page (https://www.fitbit.com/user/profile/edit) is in feet and inches. The inches section will be limited to 11 so you should be putting the number of feet in the first box:
