Sleep Stage Issues Reverting to Old Pattern

I know people with the Alta HR are having issues but I am also encountering issues with my watch recording sleep stages.

For no apparent reason the data reverted to the old format instead of providing the sleep stages. This is a brand new watch with everything updated. No settings have been changed and data has been syncing fine.

This is exactly the same thing that happened to me with the Alta HR. It had been tracking my four sleep stages (awake, light sleep, REM, deep sleep) perfectly since I purchased it in April. This morning (June 1), I awoke to find that it had reverted to the old format. As well, my steps tracker hasn't reset itself to reflect the fact that it is a new day. It is continuing to track from yesterday, so my steps for today are completely inaccurate. The tracker shows 22,000 steps for today when I only did about 10,000 today and 12,000 yesterday (hence the 22,000; the tracker is combining the two days as one).

This is most frustrating. As a new user who made this purchase after hearing such positive reviews, I am very unimpressed.

Agreed. It is very frustrating to purchase a product that is not complete. There is no reason that people should have issues that span weeks or months with their product and have no real solutions to these problems. It should be ready out of the box. No one should have to troubleshoot via Fitbit Customer Support or online forums just to get their watch to work properly (especially out of the box).

I am about 24 hours away from returning mine.

Hi, @BearSnatcher! There are a number of reasons this could have happened, including sleeping funny on your arm which didn't give you a good connection with your heart rate monitor. I would suggest giving your tracker a restart to be safe and seeing if the issue is resolved tomorrow. I can tell you that I wore mine last night and had sleep stages with no problem, so it's not a systemic issue.

@MakMak Thanks for the reply! Please refer to this post I made today HERE

I would like to wish that it was just sleeping on it funny, however, I don't believe it has anything to do with that. There is a legitimate issue at hand as described by the Fitbit customer support/ engineers that I posted in the post I linked to.

I have done everything (including what you have mentioned) and the issue is still not resolved unfortunately.

Mine is even weirder - my normal sleep will show in the Alta HR format. If I have another sleep - morning or afternoon - it shows in a Flex format - no levels of sleep just asleep or restless.

I have been having sleep problems so bought the Alta HR and now I'm getting partial info - not good really!.
