Sleep Stages on Blaze

Hello. I saw on another post from much earlier this month that the sleep stages would be available "later" on the blaze, so I started to search the internet to see what I could find. I found an article from Fitbit saying that the sleep stages should have been available for the Alta and Blaze as early as March 6, and that it wouldn't be until April that it was released for the Charge (see the Start Sleeping Better heading at the end: https://blog.fitbit.com/sleep-stages-and-sleep-insights-announcement/).  However, I still don't have the sleep stages on my Blaze, and it just went through what seemed to be a major update this past weekend. Is anyone else still having this problem too? Should the article have said that sleep stages will be available on the Alta immediately and would not be released for the Blaze and Charge until April? Just wondering if it's my device or just misinformation. Thanks!

I did some digging. This is true. See below taken from:

Why
do I see my sleep pattern instead of sleep stages? There are a few scenarios
where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep,
restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:

- If you slept in a position that prevented your tracker from getting a
consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely on your wrist
- If you slept for less than 3 hours
- If your tracker’s battery is critically low

This feature is being released in groups so that everyone does not attempt to update at the same time. I got the firmware update last week but the stages only showed up 2 nights ago. Please be patient. it is coming.  🙂

I'm confused.  My app updated, and I am now seeing the "Did you know..." section on my phone, but I do not have sleep stages.  However, if I access my Fitbit account via my laptop then I can see sleep stages.  So, presumably my Blaze is tracking sleep stages, they just won't show up on my phone.  Can anyone help me figure out what's wrong with the app?

A warm welcome to the Community @Kpappas@ReneeM1228 it's great to see you around and @SunsetRunner thanks for stopping by.

Sleep stages are only available for Alta HR, Blaze and Charge 2. If you are not seeing this information, I recommend checking if your apps and trackers are updated. If they are not, you won't be able to see this information, so I recommend to make the necessary updates.

I hope this helps, let me know the outcome. Woman Happy

Hello! Thank you! To the best of my knowledge everything is updated. The really odd thing is that yesterday it worked for the first time, but when I woke up this morning it was back to the regular light, deep, awake. I did change it to 'sensitive' the other day just to see what would happen, I felt the read out I've gotten hasn't been totally accurate. Maybe that's the catch? Do the devices have to be set to sensitive? I think I'll experiment and see what happens.

My dad bought a blaze 3 days ago. It asked him to update as soon as he charged it up. He did so, But no sleep stages. I also have a blaze and mine has the sleep stages. I checked with him that he has the lastest software version like me and the numbers are identical. So why doesn't he have the sleep stages?

Update on my experiment: I put my Blaze back into "sensitive" sleep mode for last night and it is back to the "light, deep, awake."  I think it was a fluke that I got the sleep stages that one night.

No, something is clearly up with it.  I've had sleep stages for three days, and this morning it switched back to the old readout for me as well.  I have not changed any settings on my Blaze; it just switched back on its own.

Best Answer

On my dads blaze there isn't any sleep sensitivity mode on the advanced setting like there is on mine. So still stuck.

Mine switched back over last night as well... I didn't do anything to it to make it change.

Have been enjoying the Sleep Stages for the past week. Last night I was exciting to see how my new CPAP mask would affect the report. Synced this morning to find it rolled back to the old style. Where are the Sleep Stages?

Best Answer

Mine worked last night! I don't know why or how, but it did. We'll see what tonight brings!

I just used my CPAP last night for the first time and was interested in seeing the results on my Blaze; unfortunately it has reverted back to the old style after having the new style for a week. Boo!

Best Answer

I think if the Blaze does not get enough info (e.g. pulse) it doesn't show the new results but reverts to the old.  Mine has been alternating between old and new.

That's an interesting idea. I wonder if the moderator @AlejandraFitbit knows anything about that?

Good information, but it seems to be incomplete; the first night I lost sleep-stages, my battery claimed to be half-full at the time of syncing, the sleep-pattern recorded well over 5 hours of total sleep time after taking out awake/restless time, and my Fitbit Blaze was snug enough to get consistent heartrate recordings all night as evidence of my interday data not showing any significant gaps. I wish devs would help us help them to discover what other things might be wrong to help fix things faster.

Agreed. I had stages for about a week, but have had 4 straight days of the old data since. There is something more to it than not being tight, too little sleep, and battery.

I'm a new user of the Fitbit Blaze and like another respondent here, conducted a major update early this week which resulted (I thought) in a change in how my sleep records are shared on the app. I had gone from only seeing the "Sleep Pattern" after each night to just one night reported in the "Sleep Stages" graph. I found this report much more informative, but today it returned to the Sleep Pattern option. I don't see how to change it and have reviewed the possible reasons this option might not have been the default. None seem to apply. Wish I could get the Sleep Stages graph after every night.
