Periodically -- once or twice a month for many months now-- the android app and/or Fitbit will suddenly show a huge step count in a 15 minute period: 87495, 52569, 34327,11393, 34299,10868,11592. I've most often seen it in the app (on a Samsung Galaxy S8) and then in the Fitbit Blaze when it syncs. More frequently, the app shows a high step count but it resets to the actual step count from the Fitbit when it syncs, so it's not consistent. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app several times with no change, and this issue has persisted over a number of app versions. It happens when sitting or walking; so it's not a driving or vibration issue.
Note to developers: any step count over 2,000 in a 15 minute period is probably suspect, at least for me.

Hi @DW_Fit, welcome to the Community Forums! Thanks for your post.
I appreciate all the details that were shared with me and your patience troubleshooting your device prior to posting. To better assist you with this situation, can you please let me know when was the first time you experienced this issue? This is more related to the Fitbit device itself rather than the Fitbit app, therefore, I suggest you to restart your device following the steps that are specified on: How do I restart my Fitbit device? to refresh its performance, please let me know if the issue persists.
Keep me posted.

Thanks for your reply. In response to your questions: the issue has been going on for quite some time; I was hoping that some update to the Fitbit firmware and/or Fitbit app would resolve the occasional problems. The problem has persisted though numerous restarts of the Fitbit watch and the Fitbit app.
Here's an update. I looked at the Fitbit app on my android phone first thing in the morning and it showed 148,435 steps (see attached screenshot), while the Fitbit watch showed 0 steps. Note from the screenshot that the miles & minutes showed 0. When I re-enabled Bluetooth, and after synchronization, the app displayed 0 steps as expected. However, there have been times when the synchronization results in the Fitbit getting the huge step count and obviously skewing the results for that day.
