Steps decreasing on same route

Hey,

I have had my Blaze for over a year.  I ride my bike to work and back home every day.  I always wear my Fitbit on my non-dominant hand and have checked my stride, etc in the setup (please don't offer that as a "solution" I have done all the recommended "solutions")... My fitbit used to calculate over 9000 steps for my round-trip bike ride, now over the past year it has slowly decreased incrementally to currently about 5000.  My route has not changed!  My speed/pedaling has not changed! Same bike!

any help or ideas re: this would be appreciated Smiley Happy

I am having same issue with undercounting. I have been walking with my sister this week while on vacation. She is routinely getting about 20% more steps AND distance than I am. Since the distance we have walked is the same, I don't really think it is a stride issue

Within the last hour, I tried to check to see if steps were registering correctly. Now it is not counting any of them. It is stuck on 10,790 and us not counting any steps.

I have restarted it. Any ideas?

@txsoccerchic on a bike the Blaze can not count steps. For one the bike rider is not taking steps and since the tracker is on the wrist which is holding onto the handlebars and the handlebars bounce around as the front wheel goes over bumps in the road, your blaze is simply counting the bumps on the road. Now if any of the roads have been repaired or paved recently there will be less bumps to ride over.

@Prof your issue is not related since you are actually walking.

About the tracker stopped at 10,790 have you done a restart yet?

As for step counts have you counted your steps and compared to what the tracker counted?

@Rich_Laue sorry, Texas hates fixing roads, so that explanation is definitely out. if anything my route has gotten bumpier :-).  I realize that the fitbit doesn't work the same on a bike.  I just find it odd that it originally counted 9000+ steps and then has consistently decreased greatly over a year. We are talking almost 50% decrease.  I think there is something wrong with the actual fitbit itself as nothing in my route or biking experience has changed.

Yes, I have done both. I finally read somewhere to restart 3 times. That
seemed to work for now.

Hey there @txsoccerchic, welcome to the Community, @Prof great to see you around and @Rich_Laue thanks for stopping by.

I am glad to see here that our friend answered your inquiries about the information that your trackers are registering and that your issue @Prof has been resolved. @txsoccerchic If you are still curious about the information that your tracker is registering, I recommend restarting your Blaze, walk 100 steps and let me know how many it recorded.

Hope to hear from you soon. Robot Happy
