Can anyone explain how two watches can log different steps. My friend and I were doing almost the same activity from the same step starting point and hers logged 20,000 and mine only 10,000

Hi there @sandridge. Good to see you in the Community Forums! 🙂
Fitbit devices use a 3-axis accelerometer to understand your motions and steps are not the same as distance. A shorter person will cover a certain distance with more steps than a taller person would because of their stride length when walking/running. Now, based on each person's stride length, this will count to determining the distance covered, so the distance may not change that much but the amount of steps will.
Hope this answers your question and if you need anything else, let me know!
