Steps inaccuracy

My Fitbit Blaze just started slowing the step tracking down. The mile loop I always do was suddenly .7 miles last week and .45 this week. I have it linked to my phone’s GPS. I also walked with my sister today for 3 hours and she tracked 8,000 steps and mine only tracked 4,000 steps.

A warm welcome to the Community @3dogsandababy.

Have you tried to restart your Blaze? If you haven't, I recommend restarting it by doing the following:

  1. Press and hold the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take less than 10 seconds.
  2. Let go of the buttons.

After the restart, walk 100 steps and let me know how many it registered. Now about yours and your sister's steps, keep in mind that the tracker will estimate your information based on your height, weight, age and gender, since you and your sister don't have the same measurements your information might be different.

Let me know the outcome. Woman Happy

I have reset my Fitbit and reconnected it to my phone already. We will see how it works. I walked a 10k today and it only registered 1.8 miles so it has nothing to do with differences in height, weight, age, etc. I’m noticing it may be because I was pushing a stroller. Although, I connect the Fitbit to the gps on my phone and it still does not register. If it because I use it while pushing a stroller, that is super disappointing as a new mom trying to get back into shape. I may have to find a different device. I like tracking and doing challenges but if my steps don’t track because I’m wearing it while pushing a stroller, it loses the fun and motivation.

try putting your fitbit in your pocket or around your bra strap, that is what my wife does as she pushes her mother in a wheel chair

Not sure how accurate it is. Even still, it defeats the purpose of the Fitbit with the heart rate monitor. Then it’s just an overpriced pedometer.

If you can put it around your ankle try that  but you have to have arm movement for it to register your steps or shoulder movement,

you should get heart rate around your ankle though

Hi, when I see all the complaint topics about Blazes, I feel almost lucky--my problem is undercounting.  I get about 70% of the steps my wife does when we walk together (Also, the feature where the clock face comes on when you flip your wrist to see the watch works approximately never.  Whatever senses the motion of my wrist may be associated with the innaccurate step count?)  I have re-set the Blaze, checked my stride length and other suggested fixes I seen, so far nothiing has worked.
