Stride not calculating correctly, and a simpler stride calculation?

If anyone else finds their Blaze is not calculating their stride correctly after manually putting in the correct stride numbers, try entering the correct number on both your phone, online profile, shutting down the blaze, and starting it again.

After giving up and pulling out the calculator - there are 63360 inches in a mile, multiplying by the miles the blaze calculated I walked, and dividing by the number of steps the blaze said I walked - I found out it was calculating as though I was 5'2", not 5'10".  It had auto-calculated 29.1 inches, which was close to what I had calculated manually.  But it was actually recording my strides as 24-ish inches.  I shut down and started the blaze back up, and it seems to be correctly calculating distance.

I also have been floating around the idea - so far it seems to hold up reasonably well - that someone's stride can be roughly calculated to their inseam minus 1 inch?  Easy for men since we buy our pants that way.  I completely understand why height is a poor estimator, but wouldn't inseam be a pretty decent measurement, or at least a starting place to put in a simple calculation?  I mean ... it is measuring your leg.

A warm welcome to the Community @snell.doug. If the auto detection for the stride length is not working, I recommend restarting your Blaze and then test it. Keep in mind that you can always choose to set this automatically or you can set it you own.

You will be able to find this option by doing the following from a computer:

1. Go to Settings

2. Go to Personal Info

3. Scroll down to Stride Length

4. Select Set Your Own

5. Enter your information

6. Click Submit

7. Sync

I hope this helps, let me know the outcome. Woman Happy

My Blaze seems to be calculating the distance by multiplying the number of steps counted by the stride length.
