Stuck on setup for new fitbit blaze

ANSWERED

I just received my fitbit Blaze this morning and very keen to start using it.

I already have a Flex and a One, so went to my laptop to set up the new blaze.

Part way through the set up, when my laptop  said it was updating the Blaze the connection was lost.

I now have a situation I don't understand.

The screen on the Blaze just has the fitbit logo and "fitbit.com/setup" displayed - but when I go to the dashboard it shows the Blaze on there as well as my Flex and One. It says I have a Blaze connected but the Blaze itself doesn't seem to think so.

I have no idea how to resolve this problem.

Can anyone help?

I have the exact same situation. Fitbit support could not provide a solution.

This worked for me 🙂

Since you bought a flex @Unfit1 and since the Flex syncs, your computer is now setup for the Blaze. Fitbit only makes one dongle model, some users that needed a dongle asked and received one from fitbit.

In any case you should be able to do an add device and connect the Blaze as a second device to your account.

Hello all, I hope you are doing fine! Woman Happy Thanks for sharing the steps you have already tried to fix this inconvenience. I would like to know if you keep having problems setting up your Blaze? If you do, I recommend waiting for the battery to drain, after that restart the Blaze and follow the setup procedure directly from a computer.

I received a replacement on 8/26. I was able to successfully complete the set up on the new Blaze and it is now working fine.

I received a Fitbit Blaze  ( the second one after the other was returned) and I can't get past the "fitbit.com/setup" screen. I have tried several things and they still didn't work. Help!

Hi there @rogervoysey. Good to see you around!

Have you tried to restart your tracker first? You can do this by pressing and holding the left and lower right buttons for 10-12 seconds. After that, your tracker will reboot. Once you've restarted your tracker, go to the  Fitbit app and in the Account section, choose the "Set up a new device" option and follow the on-screen instructions and see if this goes through. It takes sometimes about 10-20 minutes for it all to update and complete the set up process but you shouldn't have any problem after that. Also, make sure that your devices is a compatible devices. You can check this at www.fitbit.com/devices

Let me know how it goes!

The Blaze requires the bluetooth doggle, it does not come with one.  I luckily had one from an old device.  You will need to buy one or your computer that does not have bluetooth will not recognize it.

That's not exactly the case, if the PC has built in BY that will work, or any BY 4.0 dongle should also work. If the PC is running win10 then the Blaze is able to sync or be setup through the charging cable plugged into a USB.

I'm on Windows 10 and my Blaze simply refuses to sync with my PC even when plugged in via the charging cable.  Woman Sad

@Rich_Laue

Only if the computer was manufactured after either Windows 10 came out (Factory install) or after January 2016. The dongle is another story as I have one that came with my Alta, but it's never used. My Pavilion has Bluetooth built in. That's why I said January 2016. Mine was manufactured after January 1, 2016.

If you upgraded from Windows 7 or 8.1, you'll either need the dongle or Bluetooth adapter. Bluetooth adapter will run you about a deuce (That's $20.00 here in Canada and the US). It will take up one USB slot on your laptop or tower.

@WillowTheWhisp

Did your computer come with Bluetooth installed on the motherboard?

@Driver8666 even with an older computer you can still sync through the charging cord, no BT needed.

My question is since it's so straightforward, why are people having issues? Plug it in and go. Weird still.

Yes, and I have tried with and without the dongle.

At present the only thing that seems to work is sync with my mobile phone and then log into the PC dashboard via the forums. It seems a bit longwinded but it works for me so I'm not too bothered.

One of the official suggestions was to disable my mobile bluetooth and then sync via PC but that didn't work either.

The method I use works for me so I'm not particularly worried but it does seem that there are a whole host of possible glitches and it isn't a case of "do this" and it will work.

I've wondered the same thing @Driver8666 currently I know. Of about 30 people wi k the Blaze, 2 of them know almost nothing about their phones.. I can not come close to knowing how many friends, relatives, workermates, or simply those that i meet in travels. I wish I could say I've meet somebody who had problems setting any model fitbit up, but I haven't found them yet.

I found it finally worked by using the computer & the desktop app vs. my phone. Hope that helps!

Didn't use my Blaze for over a month, then started using it again and it wouldn't sync. Did the following, which I assume can be done for troubleshooting any kind of connectivity or sync issue:

  1. Log into the app
  2. Remove the Blaze from your account
  3. Go to the phone's Bluetooth settings and remove the Blaze from there
  4. Reboot your phone
  5. Reboot the Blaze
  6. Add the Blaze in the app again
