Syncing with MapMyRun?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi,

Got a Blaze as a gift last Sunday. I've been tracking with MapMyRun until now. Yesterday on my run commute I used both, but today I thought I'd just use the Blaze and it would sync. But nothing has appeared on MapMyRun.

The two accounts are linked, and both say they've synced.

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

Exercise recorded on map my run syncs to Fitbit, but not the other way round.

Oh you're kidding?! How irritating! Does anyone know a hack to make them play nicely together?

I just just checked the MMR website and don't see anything that really addresses what gets synced.  MMR and Fitbit have been linked for years, long before Fitbit got trackers that use GPS, and I think (guess?) that MMR has never tried to update their connection software to get fitbit GPS data.

The main reason most people probably used to want to link the apps when the conneciton software was first created was because MMR had better (based on GPS) distance calculations for workouts than fitbit had.  Fitbit's main metric (steps) is not something MMR tracks for initially they probably only went for 1 way communication.

Welcome to the forums @AntoniaB! I'd like to jump in and mention that @Baltoscott's information is correct.

Currently we're encountering a problem with the MapMyRun and Fitbit connection; this is causing the Fitbit data to be imported only as steps to MMR, not activities. Also, if you were to track an activity through MapMyRun and you import your Fitbit steps; they will count as double.

This is something that is in discussion with the MapMyRun team and solutions are being investigated to correct this problem.

Let me know if you have any questions, have a great day! Smiley Very Happy

Hi Helena,

Is there any new information on this problem between MMR and Fitbit connectivity?  Also, is there a chance that we will be able to link the HR information to MMR?

thanks

@runandbike That's how the integration works, it's not a connectivity issue. Since it's a one-way integration, only Fitbit data (excluding activities and heart rate) will sync to MMR. Check out the post I made here for more info. 🙂

The Heart rate is availible to third parties so yes there is the possibility. The querion is will MMRun, MMWalk, MMCycling, MMHike, MMWorkout, MMFitness, MMDogWalk, MMTrainer, MMFitnessWorkout, and the other Under Amour owned apps take advantage of this?  You will need to ask them? It is possible from Fitbits end

Fitbit will only export your gps walks and runs over to strava who seem to have the best integration with fitbit.

@SunsetRunner while you have the idea correct, fitbit reports chooand MMR choses only to retrieve your event data.
