This is my third Fitbit that has stopped working for absolutely no reason. Anybody else running into the problem where your Fitbit lasts a convient 13 months? Just one month after the warranty expires? Or is it just me? I’m just so disgusted by the amount of money I’ve spent on Fitbits and accessories and want to know if I’m alone in this.

To me, the bands seem constructed to begin dissolving at 12.5 months. The retaining strap, the buckle, the connection to the pin. I guess that's better than when they dissolve the skin on your wrist.

My family of four has had 9 fitbits in three years. The devices haven't failed yet but they aren't very useful without a band. Of course, earlier models didn't have interchangeable bands at all. Fitbit stops releasing software updates or selling accessories as soon as another model comes out. Perhaps Fitbit feels that a smartwatch should be a subscription service and we should give them $20/month.

That’s a great way to put it! It’s not an investment in a good product, but more like a subscription for a super mediocre one. An Apple Watch is cheaper at this point and does all that a Fitbit does, and more!
