Hi I've done martial arts now for about 30 years and I was wondering if training on the bag is likely to damage the Blaze sensitive internal mechanics. I don't use gloves but I do hit hard. I have not been wearing the device when using the bag, but I was curious if this type of training would cause the device damage.
Kicking is not an issue unless I decide to wear it around my ankle, so this query is just about punching, if I decide to wear it on my ankle to do kicks then I'll make a post about that then.

Can't record a workout with gloves and the Blaze. Everytime the screen comes into contact with the gloves or pads it stops the workout, or pauses it, or changes screen. 😞

I also sometimes have some creepy shadowy figure following me, especially when it is bright and sunny at this point I end up shadow sparring this aparition in a vain attempt to defend myself; For some reason I can never make contact as he is too fast.
So I'd also like to know if my lightning fast jabs is likely to shake up the Blaze too much. If you've seen Bruce Lee's incredible speed then that will give you some indication as to my speed (just play the tape at 1/5th speed and add about 100kgs on my arms and that is probably give you an idea as to my amazing speed).
But in all seriousness I really would like to know if shadow sparring and bag workouts without gloves would be cause the Blaze damage, what kind of shock damage can it safely handle, I'd appreciate any information you can give me, thanks.

It can handle the speed & motion of punches, strikes, etc. The problem happens when you're trying to record it as a workout while wearing standard boxing glove type gloves- as someone else said, every time the glove comes into contact with the fitbit, it thinks it's a command. I've found 2 ways around this issue. First, I can wear the less bulky 'training gloves' and strap the fitbit higher on my arm so it's not under the wrist portion of the glove. I'm a beginner, though, so what I usually do is just leave the settings alone and wear the fitbit with the regular gloves- it still records heart rate when it's not set to a specific exercise. After my martial arts or kickboxing class or session is over, I manually enter the workout via the app.
It would be *really* nice if someone designed a case that would allow us to wear the fitbit with bag gloves, though!
