Accuracy when using hiking poles

Why does my charge 5 not record mileage and steps accurately when I use hiking poles vs hiking without poles, if it is truly using GPS and its ability to judge your mph from previous use?

Hi, @Suzicruzer, welcome to the community, you may find this article of interest How accurate are Fitbit devices? - Fitbit Help Center Steps are evaluated by the accelerometers in the Charge 5 so if your arm movement is limited this will affect the "count". You will see there are sections on this issue and the use of GPS.
