This update should now be available to all customers! If you have any difficulty updating, make sure you are following the directions in this article, and then provide as many specific details as possible in your post so that we can assist.


Update 11/7

We’re excited to announce that a firmware update for Charge 5 will be available soon!  Some of you may already have this update available - if you installed it, let us know what you think!

 

If you don’t see the update yet, that’s expected. Check the Fitbit app in a few days, and you’ll see a message when you can install the update. We expect everyone to receive the update in the coming weeks. We appreciate your patience while we get this update to all of our customers. 

 

Did you know that we gradually release our updates? We do this to make sure everything is working just right for you. Sometimes we find an issue and it might take a little longer than expected for everyone to get the update. While you might see suggestions on how to “force” an update, we ask that you don’t try any of these workarounds. Most of the time the update won’t be available and you can lose data or encounter other difficulties. The best way to get the update is to be patient and wait for the update banner to appear in the Fitbit app.

Can China user also get this update? I haven't seen the update in my APP till now

Since installing the firmware update yesterday, my Charge 5 has been going through its battery at a stupid fast rate. It was 83% when I finished the firmware update. It was 4% this morning.

Same here. I have GPS set to dynamic and everything else set to use as little display as possible. Overnight the battery went from 80-something pct to 5 pct

Same here… prior to update battery would last 7 to 8 days.  Now less than 12 hours.  I removed the ekg app , turned off all notifications and auto sync and battery is still just disappearing .  Now I am charging and it is taking longer to charge.

 

any additional update??

Updated to version 200001.149.11. My tracker does not have the ECG app. Is it country related ? I am from Malaysia.

Yesterday I updated my Charge 5 that was connected to the charger. At the end battery was 99%. Next morning zero battery. Normally I had to charge once every 5 or 6 days. I did not change any setting. 
Could the update be the problem?

@jfe That's great news,  thank you for sharing that you received the update and that you've been testing these features. I recommend that you use the feature for a few days to check if you see any variations.  

 

@Geefunx Thank you for sharing your feedback about the syncing process. Before considering other options, make sure that you've also tried the steps listed here to resolve problems during the update. In addition, let me know if you already tried these steps to resolve syncing problems, and make sure to check the compatibility requirements listed here.

 

@Derek_Luo Yes, this update is being released to all countries, but it may take some time for everyone to receive it, since it's being released progressively. 

 

@Haligonian @amcljr @Axpbillie @Rdg1959 @jimlhomme I've seen seen other users are experiencing this problem with the battery draining too fast after the firmware update. Make sure to complete the restart procedure and follow the other recommendations listed here. This information has been shared with the team so they can look into this. 

 

@Xterm8 Yes, unfortunately the ECG feature is not available in all countries for the moment. This feature often requires the approval of certain agencies and institutions of each country before they can be activated for use. I recommend that you review this list periodically to check if your country has been added.

After updating, my watch is stuck with a black screen - double tapping does not activate it, and restarting it via power cable temporarily shows the fitbit logo before going back to black. The watch still seems to be functional, as I can see the sensor lights against my wrist and I can still sync with the app successfully.

 

Possibly unrelated, when I go to the "Gallery" page on the app for the watch, I'm immediately taken to a "Oops, looks like there's no internet connection" page (or it just sits there and spins waiting).

Hi @DavideFitbit .  Good to see the update.  I understand the ECG app is region locked, but how does the Charge 5 work out what region you're in in relation to ECG.  I live in the UK, my profile etc. is UK, so I'm in a listed country, but I'm currently abroad in an unsupported country, with the timezone changed to reflect that.  I've got the new firmware installed, but no ECG app.  I would have expected the ECG to be based on the country I'm from, not the country I currently happen to be in, but wondered if that was the reason I'm not seeing the app, or if it's something else.

the new featured suggestion page crashes for me when i try to submit (also, for labels, there is no charge 5 as an option under devices) however i was hoping to propose this clock face attached. where one of the stats can appear at top, rest appear in a block below... colour theme would be red (bright and dark) and white.

Hello, I am little bit disappointed. I have Charge 5 for 2 weeks, and I was looking forward to ECG app. I am from Slovakia and app is not available. Near Czech republic got it, but we have similar laws. I have paid the samé price for the device so why I am discriminated?

same here! Just deinstalled the new released feature (app) EKG and further not used apps (e.g. "relax"). Seems battery life is back to normal (drain 1%/ 2 hours; which is normal).

I like it!  

You should add it to the Clock Faces suggested features thread. If there was a way to make the heart beat all of the time, it would be even better!

@PEDSJL I was able to fix it just by changing the clock face through the app. It took much longer than normal to load the new clock face than it usually does, so I wonder if it was "fixing" something broken during the update?

such a bad and faulty release.....i am really wondering what SW developers have been looking at......such major issues now....coming along with the "new" and since "ages" announced features.....have you already noticed? battery drain? with standard config (monitor, manually, GPS off, display brigtness normal mode and so on....) - battery lasts 1.5 days max.....and with the previous release i easily got 10 days....if this takes another month until issues will be fixed......this product is no more worth to get mentioned.
